    Escaping Idi Amin

    9pm, BBC Two

In 1972, Uganda was home to 80,000 Asians. But 18 months after dictator Idi Amin came to power, he gave them 90 days to get out. In this deeply affecting two-part documentary, people who lived through this as children share their terrifying and complex testimonies – from curfews to daily radio countdowns, extreme street violence and abuse, and massacres. Hollie Richardson

    Thank You Sir Kev

    8pm, BBC One

Rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield has raised millions of pounds for motor neurone disease since his best friend and fellow sports star Rob Burrow was diagnosed in 2019 (he died of the disease two years ago). Prince William leads the tributes to Sinfield while friends and family paint the full picture of the man and his achievements. HR

    Clickbait Clinic with Stacey Dooley

    8.30pm, BBC One

Dooley concludes her series on viral medical claims with the most emotive conundrum so far: can the dog deworming treatment, fenbendazole, cure terminal human cancer? Surely not, but questioning desperate people clinging to any sliver of hope is, as she discovers, not a pleasant task. Jack Seale

    Pierre

Brenda (Cherrelle Skeete) is arrested while fighting for justice over her nephew Michael’s death, and the more duty solicitor Pierre (David Harewood) “sniffs around”, the more resistance and threats he encounters. Meanwhile, was the attack on his son Eli a warning? “For God’s sakes, why would someone go to all this trouble to stop me digging around if there wasn’t something bigger going on?” Ali Catterall

    Crystal Lake

    9pm, Sky Atlantic

What is a woman to do after mutilating two men to death and feeding their bodies to a bear? Go on a self-help retreat, of course! That’s what Pam (Linda Cardellini) has planned in episode two of the stomach-churning Friday the 13th prequel. Meanwhile, local cop Levon – who has the hots for Pam – finds the remains in the woods. Trauma: My Broken Brain

    10pm, Channel 4

This series about young people dealing with the aftermath of strokes is a tough watch. However, seeing Dan (a dancer), Saskia (a social butterfly) and Dec (who has just begun a new relationship) deal with their changed realities is uplifting, too – the trio face a long road but their resilience is remarkable. Backrooms (Kane Parsons, 2026), HBO Max

Tunnel vision … Chiwetel Ejiofor in a scene from Backrooms. Photograph: A24/AP

Director Kane Parsons was just 20 when he shot this genre-redefining horror, based on the “creepypasta” YouTube series he had been developing since his mid-teens. Chiwetel Ejiofor stars as Clark, a failed architect who discovers an apparently endless liminal space behind the strip mall store where he works and, depressingly, also lives. Renate Reinsve is Clark’s therapist, Mary, a woman working through her own traumas around enclosed spaces, who nonetheless follows him into these backrooms to attempt a rescue. The wallpaper may be monotonously yellow, but there are scares of every shade here and, underlying it all, the heart-pounding thrill of pure originality. Ellen E Jones
