75 new roles spread across engineering, fabrication and logistics will be created over the next five years.

Irish engineering services company Designer Group has opened a new €10m workshop in Co Meath. Based in Kells, the facility spans 4,000sq m and is expected to enhance the company’s modular manufacturing capabilities.

The new facility is also expected to create 75 jobs and apprenticeship positions over the next five years, with roles including engineering, fabrication and logistics. SiliconRepublic.com has reached out to Designer Group for more details on the upcoming roles.

Overall, Designer Group employees around 1,250 people, with operations spread across 10 countries. Components built in the new facility will be transported to the company’s client sites across Ireland, the UK and Europe, the company said. Designer Group serves companies in the data centre, energy and pharmaceutical and infrastructure sectors.

“As our industry continues to evolve, we are seeing a fundamental shift in how complex projects are executed – with speed, certainty, and sustainability at the forefront,” said Paul Nicholls, Designer Group’s managing director.

“Our new facility enables us to deliver high-quality, prefabricated modules off-site, driving greater efficiency, cost certainty, and reduced risk for our clients, while ensuring excellence in delivery across all sectors.

“Beyond its operational impact, this investment also strengthens our local footprint, supporting long-term employment in Co Meath with the creation of 75 skilled, management and apprenticeship roles over the coming years.”

Earlier today, US software company Fixify announced plans to hire 50 people for a new EU Centre of Excellence in Cork city.

And European full-stack semiconductor company Openchip said that it will hire around 30 new research and development staff for its Limerick operations.

While MyComplianceOffice, the Irish provider of integrated compliance technology solutions, opened a new Dublin-based office recently alongside announcing plans to expand its technology and engineering teams, including by hiring in leadership roles.
