If/when Enzo Maresca is hired as the new Chelsea manager, he will have my full backing and support regardless of my emotions and feelings surrounding the appointment.
I am a Chelsea fan first over everything. So if Maresca is succeeding, it means Chelsea are succeeding, so of course I am going to be fully behind that and supporting it.
Yes, it’s a massively underwhelming appointment and is hugely risky for the club. His lack of experience is a glaringly obvious red flag, but there are many more too. If he fails at Chelsea then heads must roll, they simply have to. It’s in incredibly bold and risky move by the owners and the sporting directors to make this hire, IF/when they do make it. I’d not want to be in their shoes if this one all comes tumbling down, it feels like last chance saloon for me. The 5-year-contract too is just insanity, but I’ll speak more on that soon.
But Maresca has a lot of positives too, and if you haven’t already then it might be a good idea to read my profile piece on him from yesterday which is full of positives and reasons to have some optimism.
I’ll never hide my feelings and will always say things as they are, but I am going to give Maresca every chance to make it at Chelsea, as I would have done with ANY head coach that they decide to hire.
I also have SERIOUS doubts about this appointment and many fears about how it will turn out. But as I say, it’s a new season, a summer transfer window coming up, a pre-season, and then we go again. So it’s a clean slate and a chance to have a successful season again, and I will be backing that and pushing for Maresca to be successful here. I truly hope he can be, I am willing him to be.
I have plenty of fears with the club right now and not just Maresca, but I’m ready to dig in again ahead of a new season and get behind them all and hope we can push on in 2024/25!
Not everyone is like me though and everyone is different. I will never try and change anyone else’s opinion and if you are fully angry about this and are finding it really difficult to feel any positivity right now, I fully understand that. Everyone is different and emotions can overcome us. It’s passion. We all share a love for this club, and we all handle things differently and ARE different as people. We should always just accept that. Some people will moan and vent, others will always just try and see the brighter side all the time, and it’s completely fair either way.
