Microsoft has plenty up its sleeve for the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, with a global reveal planned for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 alongside, as per multiple reports, announcements and updates for the likes of Perfect Dark, Starfield: Shattered Space, Gears 6, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and even Blue Dragon, among many others. Allegedly, another game that will be announced is id Software’s DOOM: The Dark Ages, with journalist Tom Henderson having claimed in a recent report that the next mainline DOOM instalment will be unveiled soon.
In the immediate aftermath of said leak, more details on the title have seemingly emerged as well. As per prominent leaker NateTheHate, who recently took to Twitter to corroborate Henderson’s claims, DOOM: The Dark Ages is going to be a multiplatform title, and that its announcement at the Xbox Games Showcase will confirmed that alongside Xbox Series X/S and PC, it will also be coming to PS5.
Given that id Software, DOOM, and Bethesda are all, of course, owned by Microsoft, many may have assumed that the next DOOM would be skipping PlayStation, just as Bethesda’s Starfield did- but then again, given Microsoft’s expanded efforts as a multiplatform publisher in recent weeks (and, presumably, going forward), it isn’t entirely surprising that the company is unwilling to forgo all the sales a new DOOM gam would enjoy on PlayStation.
To expand upon the report with some additional information:
