Disney’s city of animals makes a return to the big screen, as Zootopia 2 (known as Zootropolis 2 in the UK) is out this Thanksgiving. The film continues the adventures of the adorable but fierce bunny Judy Hopps, and the cunning but charming fox Nick Wilde.
When the animated Zootopia was released in 2016, it was a resounding success. Critics praised its bold characters, humour and playful take on the buddy cop movie genre. Like other hits such as Shrek, Zootopia proved to be a great film for both children and older viewers alike.
However, despite the success of the first film, the follow-up took nine years to arrive. The best way to find out whether Zootopia 2 is as charming as the first flick is to see it at the cinema. However, if you’re already wondering when the movie will premiere on home media, we have your back.
How to watch Zootopia 2 now
The movie will premiere in cinemas on Wednesday, 26 November 2025.
In the UK, you can book tickets via Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld websites.
In the US, tickets are available on AMC Theatres, Fandango or Atom Tickets.

When could Zootopia 2 be released on VOD?
Disney, which distributes Zootopia 2, hasn’t yet revealed details about the animation’s digital premiere. However, we will try to predict when it will be released on VOD platforms.
The film’s release date may depend on how Zootopia 2 does at the box office. Most profitable Disney films usually appear on VOD between 60 and 67 days after opening at cinemas. That was the case with hits such as Moana 2, Lilo & Stitch and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Zootopia from 2016 was very popular, and everything indicates that the highly anticipated follow-up will also win audiences over. Therefore, in the US, we expect Zootopia 2 to become available for digital download between Sunday, 25 January 2026 and Sunday, 1 February 2026.
In the UK, the second Zootopia movie will most likely be available on VOD on the same day as in the US.
Please note that these dates are estimates – we’ll update this article as soon as Disney confirms the VOD release dates for the movie.

When could Zootopia 2 be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Usually, Disney’s films arrive on DVD three to five weeks after their digital premiere. Blockbusters such as The Fantastic Four: First Steps dropped on DVD and Blu-ray 21 days after debuting in cinemas. Copies of Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts* arrived in stores after 28 days, while Lilo & Stitch needed 35 days to do so.
We believe that Zootopia 2 will follow a similar path. If so, in the US, the film may be released on DVD and Blu-ray between Sunday, 15 February 2026 and Sunday, 8 March 2026.
However, there are exceptions to that rule. Moana 2 and Mufasa: The Lion King first arrived on Disney+, and then dropped on DVD and Blu-ray six days later.
We’ll let you know as soon as we find out Disney’s plans for releasing physical copies of Zootopia 2.
In the UK, the physical copies of the film may arrive some time after the US release based on previous patterns.

When could Zootopia 2 be released on streaming platforms?
We expect Zootopia 2 to drop on Disney+ last – most likely, soon after its DVD and Blu-Ray release. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hit Disney+ just a day after physical copies arrived in the stores. Lilo & Stitch did so in 8 days, while The Fantastic Four: First Steps became available for streaming around three weeks after the DVD and Blu-ray release.
Therefore, Zootopia 2 may drop on Disney+ between Monday, 16 February 2026 and Monday, 30 March 2026.
However, Disney may decide to release the film for streaming after its VOD premiere – we will let you know if that happens.
