Zelda is going full horse girl in her next game, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a new video preview of the upcoming Nintendo Switch release reveals. In that nearly six-minute gameplay video, we see how Zelda will scoot around Hyrule: on foot, via teleportation waypoints, and in the saddles of adorable horses.
Traveling on horseback looks incredibly fast and incredibly fun, letting Zelda and her steed jump over obstacles (and stomp on enemies) that stand in her way. Zelda can summon her horse by creating a carrot echo, a magical replication of the common root vegetable. And, like Link, she can have multiple horses over the course of her journey.
In our tour of Hyrule, where we meet Echoes of Wisdom’s versions of Zora, Goron, and Deku Scrubs, we also get a peek at another ability that Zelda will employ thanks to her Tri Rod. The ability Bond will let Zelda connect to objects in the game world through a magical tether, forcing them to move as she moves. In the primary example, we see Zelda bond with a massive boulder, then move it out of the way with ease by simply walking while connected to it. Bond will help Zelda unearth buried treasure, reposition troublesome enemies, and more, Nintendo says.
There’s also a Reverse Bond move, in which Zelda moves in tandem with the object or creature she’s connected to. With Reverse Bond, Zelda can fly, move quickly, and climb over objects by exploiting the movement of inanimate objects and creatures.
In keeping with recent Legend of Zelda game tradition, the outfits and accessories that Zelda can equip in Echoes of Wisdom also grant her enhanced abilities (and totally different looks). And at smoothie shops, Zelda can combine ingredients to make drinks that will power her up and give her certain resistances.
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is coming to Nintendo Switch on Sept. 26.
