As governments around the world confront the accelerating development of artificial intelligence technology, a changing climate and economic uncertainty, the World Governments Summit’s (WGS) organisers have said this year is set to bring the event’s most ambitious edition yet. The summit will take place in Dubai from 3-5 February, and has been taking place every year since 2013.
Set under the theme, “Shaping Future Governments”, the 2026 edition is expected to bring together 35 heads of state and government, more than 150 government delegations and over 6,000 attendees.
The summit features a series of high-level forums on artificial intelligence, education, mobility, sustainability and economic resilience.
For the first time, it will also host the World Laureates Summit, involving Nobel Prize winners and leading scientists directly in major policy debates.
Organisers say the aim is to move beyond talk and to create a platform where political figures and private sector leaders come together at a moment when global systems are under strain.
“Launched in the UAE with a global reach, the World Governments Summit was guided by the leadership’s vision to become a global platform where practical solutions, new ideas and impactful partnerships take shape,” His Excellency Mohammad Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the WGS, said speaking at the World Governments Summit Dialogue where he addressed the key themes and latest additions to the event.
