The sequel to Arthur Fleck’s story, Joker: Folie à Deux, is one big mystery.
Viewers were initially surprised that pop icon Lady Gaga would play Harleen Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn. The singer admittedly already has quite an impressive acting career, but it probably never occurred to DC fans that she could star as the famous villain.
Even more surprising was the news that Folie à Deux would be a jukebox musical. In various DC Comics adaptations, the Joker was a grotesque character, but the 2019 film offered a rather realistic and depressing look at Gotham’s Prince of Crime. Can the dark vibe be combined with the musical genre? Well, Todd Phillips will have as many as 15 songs to convince us of his vision.

In the US, ticket sales for Joker 2 will kick off on Monday, 9 September, at 6am PT / 9am ET.

As a story from the DC universe, Warner Bros. Pictures produces and distributes the new Joker film. Folie à Deux is scheduled to premiere in the US and the UK on Friday, 4 October 2024.
