If you are a professional operating in the evolving fintech ecosystem then you likely already know the value of a workplace efficiency tool. Used to expedite work, free up time for tasks of more importance, improve work-life balance and increase safety, advanced tools, when used correctly, can revolutionise the work day.

From a fintech point of view, working life can be fast-paced, with the work at hand often complex or laborious in nature. The job can also carry significant risk, as frequently the information you are dealing with is sensitive and mistakes can have serious consequences.

With that in mind, advanced tools can take some of the burden away, allowing fintech employees to approach their jobs more efficiently and in a better mindset. So, what is currently available to global fintech employees looking to optimise their career?

Security hardware

Because fintech is a STEM career that requires the absolute best when it comes to security tools and techniques, productivity aids that promote safety and compliance should be used liberally.

Professionals should consider using AWS Security Hub, a pay-as-you-go model that incorporates scanner capabilities, accuracy software and compliance monitoring features, among others.

Cloudflare, which is tiered from free to fee-paying, also offers organisations and their employees a variety of necessary security services useful to a fintech career. For example, an integrated edge security stack that protects applications, APIs, and infrastructure from attacks and malicious behaviour.

Lastly, Datadog, which bases its prices on the level of features being utilised, can be used to keep an eye on abnormalities, vulnerabilities and possible security breaches. It can be integrated with more than 500 other platforms and is particularly useful in the generation of automated alerts and workflows.

Workflow management

Automated workflow tools enable organisations to streamline work and merge teams, so, no matter how large or small an organisation is, there is a clear outline of what needs to be done and the person or teams responsible.

Fintech professionals should look into implementing features from Apache Airflow, an open-source tool that allows users to author, schedule and monitor complex workflows and pipelines, for greater clarity and control. Common use cases include, data pipeline orchestration, reporting, risk management and trade settlement processes.

Cflow is another workflow app that can empower fintech professionals as they optimise the workday. The AI-powered no-code workflow platform is aimed at organisations looking to scale and grow and features include workflow analytics, dashboard capabilities and report generation, among others.

Communication methods

For the majority of professionals consistent communication with colleagues, supervisors and external stakeholders is critical and fintech roles are no different. In fact, because so much of the job involves real-world elements that change quickly and drastically, communication and advanced tools that facilitate connectivity are incredibly important.

SMS and video apps with incorporated 2FA features are a convenient and safer way to stay in contact with team members and consumers, for example WhatsApp, Signal and Meta’s messenger app. However, as political tensions heighten, users should stay abreast of policy changes in regards to the storing, processing and utilisation of private data.

Designed specifically for the financial sector, Symphony offers employees operating in this space a range of video and messaging opportunities, which are supported by encryption and regulatory compliance features.

Teams and Slack are also a useful and relatively safe medium through which the workforce can collaborate and communicate. Just remember that you are only as strong as your organisational network, so follow all of the company’s relevant policies and if you are a remote or flexible employee, ensure that your own systems are robust.

For secure file-sharing, fintech experts should make use of tools such as OneDrive, DropBox and Google Drive. Additionally, Box.com, which is known for its work among high-risk and ever-evolving industries, could be useful to fintech experts who frequently manage complex and sensitive information.

The majority of modern-day careers could likely benefit from advanced tools and techniques, the key is to not overdo it. By selecting a few trusted and crucial models, professionals can make the most of their day and breathe new life into mundane and time-consuming processes.
