1996’s Twister, starring Helen Hunt and Bill Paxton, was a massive hit that blew the audience away with its spectacular depiction of storms. It took 28 years to make a sequel, but it felt like an actual tornado when it struck.
Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, is a standalone sequel to the previous movie. It follows a former storm chaser, Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones), and social-media star Tyler Owens (Glen Powell) as they get caught in the middle of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma.

The movie premiered in the US on 19 July 2024. Tickets can be purchased on the AMC and Fandango websites.
UK viewers can get tickets from Cineworld, Odeon, and Vue.

When could Twisters be released on VOD?
Universal Pictures and Warner Bros., which co-produced Twisters, have yet to reveal any information on the film’s digital release. However, we will try to predict when the movie might drop on VOD platforms.
Twisters is a true box-office hit. Thus, it’s very probable that Universal won’t rush its digital premiere. The studio’s most successful releases tend to appear on VOD a month and a half to two months after they opened in cinemas.
However, 2023’s box office hit Oppenheimer landed on digital four months after its cinematic release.
If Twisters doesn’t delay its digital release, it could arrive in early to mid-September 2024. However, if it follows the same pattern as Oppenheimer, it may not arrive until November 2024.

When could Twisters be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Universal’s most successful movies usually hit stores a month or two after the digital release.
Interestingly, Oppenheimer on DVD and Blu-Ray was released on the same day as on VOD. If Universal wanted to wait longer to bring Twisters to home media, it could also combine both releases.
In both scenarios, physical copies of Twisters could hit stores in late fall 2024.

When could Twisters be released on streaming services?
In the US, Twisters, distributed by Universal Pictures, will first stream on Peacock.
However, in Europe and the UK, the film is distributed by Warner Bros. That means that while in Europe Twisters will arrive on Max, UK-based viewers can catch it on Sky Cinema and Now.
For now, it’s unknown when the movie will be available for streaming. Based on previous releases, we estimate that it may happen around a month and a half after the DVD premiere. Thus, Twisters may drop on Peacock, Max and Now in November/December 2024.
However, if we again take Oppenheimer as an example, the film on streaming platforms may not appear until 2025.
