Trump Endorses RNC’s Current Treasurer as Next Co-chair

President-elect Donald Trump is backing the current treasurer of the Republican National Committee (RNC) to replace his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, as the organization’s co-chair.

On Monday, Trump endorsed KC Crosbie for the high-profile position on his social media platform Truth Social.

“America First Patriot KC Crosbie is running to become the next Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee, to replace the fantastic Lara Trump!” the president-elect wrote. “Lara, together with Chairman Michael Whatley, transformed the RNC into a lean, focused, and powerful machine that is empowering the MAGA Movement for many years to come. Thank you for your hard work, Lara, in making America great again!”

The announcement took place after Lara Trump revealed on Sunday night that she would be stepping down from the post.

In Monday’s announcement, the president-elect cited Crosbie’s accomplishments with the RNC and her role in helping to elect GOP lawmakers to Congress.

In 2012, Crosbie was elected to serve as the Kentucky Republican Party’s national committeewoman. In 2023, she was chosen as the RNC’s treasurer. Crosbie has served on the RNC Executive Committee, RNC Rules Committee, and RNC Faith Advisory Board, and represents the RNC on the Convention Selection Committee.

“KC has served on the RNC with distinction, as the RNC’s Treasurer and the National Committeewoman from the Great State of Kentucky,” Trump said in his statement. “As Treasurer, she helped the RNC smash every fundraising record in History, and fortified our Party’s financial foundation. KC has been with me from the very beginning, helping real Republicans get elected across the Country, and would be a tremendous Co-Chair of the RNC! KC will work on continuing to ensure a highly functioning, fiscally responsible, and effective RNC that makes election Integrity a highest priority.”

In stepping down as RNC co-chair, Lara Trump said that she was proud that the organization accomplished three goals during her tenure. She said the committee broke all fundraising records, built the “largest army of lawyers and poll watchers to ensure election integrity,” and “turned out millions of Americans and low [propensity] voters during early voting.”

The president-elect’s daughter-in-law has been credited with securing control of both chambers of Congress and the White House.

Her decision to leave the position has fueled speculation about her political future.

Lara Trump has told the Associated Press that she would “seriously consider” running to fill the seat of Sen. Marco Rubio, who the president-elect has nominated as his secretary of state.

“If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like,“ she said. ”And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100 percent consider it.”

Meanwhile, Trump-backed RNC Chair Michael Whatley has announced that he will remain in his role.
