After Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 +2 developer Vicarious Visions joined Blizzard Entertainment and became Blizzard Albany, any hope for future remakes in the series more or less dissipated. However, it seems something could be happening in the future.
On Mythical Kitchen’s latest episode of Last Meal, pro skater Tony Hawk revealed that he had spoken to Activision recently. Regarding the franchise’s future, he said, “I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I’ve been talking to Activision again. We’re working on something. It will be something the fans will truly appreciate.”
Of course, what that “something” could be is anyone’s guess. Remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 (reportedly pitched and rejected in favor of having the developer support Call of Duty)? Remasters of the other title? A brand new mainline title? Time will tell, but an announcement may well be a ways off.
In the meantime, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is still a great way to experience the franchise, whether recreating the best levels from the first two titles or introducing mechanics from the latter titles. It’s available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. Check out our review here.
