“The biggest issue with Chelsea is the squad itself” – In agreement – opinion

Some football pundits/journo speaking some sense now, and basically, speaking a lot of the same stuff that most other pundits, former Chelsea players, fans, and most of this community have been saying for THREE years now. It’s pure insanity that it’s continued to be ignored.

Jason Burt of The Telegraph got this SPOT ON…

“I think the biggest issue with Chelsea is the squad itself. I mean, it’s that balance within the squad, game management. You go down to 10 men yesterday’s game, you feel with a couple more experienced heads in the team, it shouldn’t happen against a team like Burnley that don’t really carry that much of a threat.

“But it was like a switch being flicked, once they went down to 10 men, it just changed everything. An experienced team, or a team that’s a top team doesn’t let that happen. Almost like a 10 man thing doesn’t become an issue. Then they just regroup and regather and they go again.”

It’s literally that simple. Have some quality ‘older heads’ on the pitch talking to those around them, keeping them calm, motivated, and in the right mentalities, is literally only going to help. Burt mentions balance, and again, it’s literally that. How can anyone see anything wrong with having BALANCE with anything in life? Especially in a football team.

I always liked watching Owen Hargreaves play football, I thought he was technically very good. His career was hounded by injuries unfortunately, otherwise he could have been something special.

As a pundit, I don’t always agree with him, but he’s pretty decent mostly.

Owen Hargreaves: “You know what, Chelsea are not even a nasty team, some teams back in the day were properly nasty, got nasty red cards, they’re all quite silly red cards the ones they have got.

“I think it’s inexperience. Again, it goes back to recruitment. They spent so much money on this squad, they’ve got some brilliant attacking players.

“The centre-back position and the goalkeeper they need to address, you need experience in there. You think they had Thiago Silva, one of the best and they just let him go for free.

“They’ve got all these talented young players, but I don’t think having just young players in the centre-back position is the right decision.”

SAY IT LOUDER, Owen. They aren’t hearing us, still. Sigh. It’s OK though, because one day soon, all these young players will eventually be experienced players. We’ll get there… 😅
