According to SmartFlyer’s 2026 travel trends report, sports like tennis and golf are “stealing the spotlight” by fuelling a “new wave of destination-driven itineraries”, where access to world-class facilities is “just as important as the view from your suite”.

Hotels and resorts across the continent are responding to the growth in tennis travel with tailored programmes, private coaching and experiences attracting players of all ages and abilities.

Here we take a look at some of Europe’s best sports resorts to enjoy a tennis holiday…

Mouratoglou Tennis Center at Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum

Set along the Aegean coastline, the Mandarin Oriental, Bodrum has enhanced its sports tourism credentials with the opening of the Mouratoglou Tennis Center, bringing elite-level coaching to one of Türkiye’s most luxurious resorts.

The new facility features three tennis courts and three padel courts, offering programmes inspired by Patrick Mouratoglou, who is known for working with champions like Serena Williams.

Guests can book private lessons, join clinics or simply enjoy hitting sessions before unwinding across the resort’s private beach, fine dining venues and expansive wellness facilities.

The Mouratoglou brand also has a tennis centre in Costa Navarino, Greece, and its flagship French Riviera academy on the Côte d’Azur, between Nice and Cannes.

Rafa Nadal Tennis Center at Don Carlos Marbella

The five-star Don Carlos Marbella resort on the Costa del Sol is home to the Rafa Nadal Tennis Center, the first of its kind in Spain.

Set among tropical gardens with Mediterranean views, the facility features seven clay courts and two padel courts while programmes follow the methodology of 22-time grand slam champion Nadal, with certified coaches and real-time analysis via the Wingfield System.

Guests can train seriously or play casually, then unwind with on-site dining, a gym, and an exhibition of Nadal’s most iconic trophies.

Should you want to book a two-country tennis trip, Sani Resort on Greece’s Kassandra Peninsula is also home to a Rafa Nadal Tennis Center.

La Manga Club, Spain

Set between the Mediterranean and the hills of Murcia, La Manga Club has long been regarded as one of Europe’s leading destinations for sports training holidays.

The resort’s renowned Racquets Club features 26 tennis courts and 10 padel courts, alongside academies and coaching programmes for all levels and ages.

Beyond tennis, visitors can also enjoy three championship golf courses, eight FIFA-standard football pitches, and cycling routes.

Accommodation ranges from luxury stays at Grand Hyatt La Manga Club Golf & Spa to apartments and villas spread across the expansive resort.

Verdura Resort, Italy

Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte hotel located in Sicily, has its own tennis, padel and pickleball club, among a portfolio of sport and leisure facilities.

Open from March to November, the Verdura Tennis Academy welcomes players of all ages and abilities for private lessons, group coaching and relaxed matches.

Expert instructors share techniques inspired by legends such as Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer, while the academy also hosts tournaments, intensive training camps and special events with former professional players.

Hôtel Royal, Evian-les-Bains, Switzerland

Perched above Lake Geneva in the French Alps, Hôtel Royal at the Evian Resort offers one of Europe’s most scenic tennis settings.

The resort’s Tennis & Racket Sports Club features four tennis courts – including GreenSet and artificial grass surfaces – alongside padel and pickleball courts, all set within landscaped grounds overlooking the lake.

Guests can book private lessons and coaching programmes with LUX Tennis instructors, while off-court experiences range from the evianSPA and Michelin-starred dining to golf, hiking and wellness activities across the wider Evian Resort estate.

Pine Cliffs Resort, Algarve, Portugal

Set among pine trees above the Algarve’s dramatic red cliffs on Portugal’s southern coast, Pine Cliffs Resort is home to the renowned Annabel Croft Tennis Academy, one of Europe’s leading tennis holiday destinations.

The academy features four floodlit courts – two clay and two hard courts – alongside four padel courts, with private coaching, clinics and intensive camps available for players of all levels.

Guests can combine training sessions with direct beach access, a nine-hole golf course, the Serenity Spa and a range of restaurants and bars.

Bürgenstock Resort, Switzerland

Above Lake Lucerne, Bürgenstock Resort combines dramatic Alpine scenery with world-class sporting facilities. The resort’s striking Diamond Domes are home to three hard courts, set against panoramic mountain and valley views in one of Europe’s most unique tennis settings.

Guests can book private coaching sessions and tailored training experiences before unwinding across the resort’s expansive wellness facilities, award-winning spas and fine dining restaurants.

Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort, Crete, Greece

Located on Crete’s northeastern coastline, Kalimera Kriti Hotel & Village Resort is home to what it describes as Greece’s largest tennis centre.

Upgraded in 2023, the centre features 26 real clay courts, one central clay court with 500 seats, five padel courts, and four new pickleball courts, many with sea views.

Guests can book coaching programmes and training camps through Patricio Travel, with year-round sessions for all ages and abilities led by experienced coaches.

Beyond the courts, the resort offers sandy beaches, spa facilities, pools, a gym and a Wilson Pro Shop.
