The AI-powered patient care system took the top spot at the event, which recognises businesses across a range of categories, including innovation, export, sustainability and start-ups.

Spryt, a Monaghan-based health-tech start-up, has been announced as the overall winner at this year’s National Enterprise Awards.

Founded in 2022 by Daragh Donohoe and Neill Dunwoody, Spryt uses AI-powered technologies to address healthcare appointment challenges and engagement issues. Users can book, amend and pay for appointments via SMS, while professionals can better predict potential no-shows and reduce instances of time wastage.

Last year, the company emerged victorious at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Europe Start-up Pitchfest competition, beating some big players in the healthcare industry.

Minister of State for Employment, Small Business and Retail Alan Dillion, TD, announced this year’s winners at Dublin’s Mansion House in front of representatives from the Local Enterprise Offices, Enterprise Ireland and the Local Authorities and small businesses from across the country.

He stated the calibre of this year’s finalists were a reflection on the growing talent and determination of Ireland’s entrepreneurs.

“Tonight’s winners represent the very best of what Irish enterprise has to offer, and we remain committed to supporting them as they grow, compete and thrive on both a national and global stage. These businesses are at the core of every town, village and community and are vital to our economy. We will ensure businesses continue to get the support they need to grow, prosper and remain competitive,” said Dillion.

Other companies recognised by the event include MoneySherpa, which won the Innovation Award for its home-buying app, Seabound engineering, which picked up the Best Export Award for its custom-built vessels and Vision Green Consultancy, which was awarded the Green/Sustainability Award for its efforts to help organisations reduce their carbon impact.

HappyPath Labs won the Best Start-up Award for its software solutions for the contact centre industry, which includes AI-drive interaction analytics.

Kieran Comerford, chair of the Local Enterprise Offices, said, “The National Enterprise Awards are a celebration of the very best of what Irish enterprise has to offer. It highlights those companies who are primed to take those next steps and scale up into international markets and it also highlights excellence in key areas of business development such as digitalisation, sustainability and exporting.”
