SETU relaunches national hub for Generative AI in higher education

The GenAI:N3 website, a national hub for Generative AI (GenAI) in higher education, has been officially relaunched as a central resource and community space for the sector.

The GenAI:N3 project, led by Dr Hazel Farrell, Academic Lead for GenAI at South East Technological University (SETU) with funding from the N-TUTORR programme, has been widely recognised for advancing conversations on the role of GenAI in teaching, learning, and assessment. It was highlighted as an exemplar of good practice in the international EDUCAUSE Horizon Report 2025. With the formal project phase now concluded, the website enters an exciting new chapter.

The relaunched platform, managed by Ken McCarthy, Head of the Centre for Academic Practice (CAP) at SETU, will serve as a dynamic and evolving hub designed to meet the needs of the higher education community. It will provide regularly updated news and report summaries, keeping educators connected to the latest developments. It also includes a new weekly guest blog, where thought leaders from Ireland and beyond share their perspectives, challenges, experiences, and hopes for GenAI in education.

Speaking about the relaunch, Dr Hazel Farrell said, “The original GenAI:N3 project created momentum, awareness, and shared practice around AI in higher education. This next phase ensures that the work continues to evolve, offering a collaborative space where the community can contribute, connect, and grow organically.”

Ken McCarthy added, “We want genain3.ie to be more than a repository. It is a living platform where academics, students, and professionals can engage in critical dialogue, share experiences, and build a collective response to the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in education.”

The relaunch marks a significant step in sustaining national collaboration on GenAI. By fostering open exchange and ongoing innovation, GenAI:N3 remains a vital resource in preparing Irish higher education to navigate the rapidly changing digital landscape.
