This year’s first Galaxy Unpacked event unveiled some exciting additions to Samsung’s technological arsenal.

In addition to the expected launch of the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung not only announced the return of the Edge series but also showed off Project Moohan, its foray into augmented, virtual, and mixed reality – though it wasn’t mentioned on stage at all.

This XR (Extended Reality) headset was developed in collaboration with Google and runs Android XR, an operating system tailored for XR devices and developed jointly by Samsung, Google and Qualcomm.

The name “Moohan,” meaning “infinity” in Korean, is said to encapsulate the vision of limitless possibilities in merging digital and physical realities. Another teaser came in the form of the Galaxy S25 Edge.

The headset bears some resemblance to Apple’s Vision Pro, combined with subtle nods to Meta’s Quest Pro. Its compact form, black visor with a silver frame, and lightweight build promise comfort and practicality.

The specifications as well as the unique features of the device are currently unknown, but it might feature advanced display technology capable of rendering users’ facial expressions for more immersive social interactions.

As said above, Project Moohan is powered by Android XR, a specialised platform designed to integrate XR devices seamlessly into the Galaxy ecosystem.

With this software, Samsung aims to provide a robust framework for developers to create innovative applications that span entertainment, education, gaming, and beyond.

Android XR also leverages artificial intelligence to facilitate multimodal interactions through gestures, voice commands, and motion controllers.

While the consumer release date for Project Moohan remains unknown, Samsung plans to make it available to developers first, delaying a wider release to refine its capabilities.

While we await more information on the device, however, we already know all about the latest Galaxy S25 series, which you can pre-order right now.
