Roamr raises $2.3m in pre-seed funding extension

The platform operates as a corporate travel disruptor, reimagining how employees and organisations manage travel accommodation.

Roamr, an Irish start-up targeting the corporate travel space, has announced the raising of $2.3m in a pre-seed extension round. The round was led by a number of repeat investors, including GymPlusCoffee investor Mike Halpin, former managing director of Meta Ireland Rick Kelley and ex-chair of Shopify International John Riordan, as well as a range of key figures in travel and SaaS.

Roamr was founded in 2023 by Stephen Dooley and Jason O’Gorman and aims to positively disrupt the corporate travel sector, by paying employees not hotels. Roamr’s technology enables a collaboration between organisational employees and their co-workers that would encourage hosting during work trips, rather than pricey hotel stays. With the money saved to be distributed between stakeholders, including Roamr.

Roamr said that the next phase of their plan for strategic growth will include further US expansion that will deepen their presence in one of the world’s largest travel markets, a commitment to the further development of key partnerships, product development and enterprise onboarding, which is a period of building on early traction with public companies.

The platform explained that its plans have changed since its oversubscribed funding round, stating, “Our early traction with forward-thinking companies, including our first public company deal in the US, sparked interest in taking the next step sooner than planned.

“Our original plan was to raise in late 2025, but momentum from existing investors, usage across 100 plus countries and pilots with global teams fast-tracked that timeline. To our investors, early adopters and the team making this possible, thank you.”

Travel-based SaaS technologies are emerging as a quickly growing market in the post-pandemic years. In October of 2024 we spoke with Pierre Yimbog, the co-founder of ‍SoloBook, an Irish AI-powered and community driven travel platform that aims to help solo travellers with planning and booking trips safely.
