Resident Evil – Code: Veronica Remake Ahead of Internal Schedule, Wesker Plays Bigger Part – Rumor

Resident Evil Requiem is the next mainline title in the franchise from Capcom, with a firm release date and many more details to come (including a potential demo). However, the company still has other remakes in the works, specifically for Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Zero. AestheticGamer, also known as Dusk Golem, alleged that they would launch by 2027/2028, with no clear indication of which would come first.

However, in a new series of tweets, the leaker reported that the Code: Veronica remake is “ahead of its internal schedule,” making it far more likely to release first (despite the opposite apparently being true). Resident Evil Zero has allegedly seen “some form of development reboot late last year”, which contributed to this.

As for what fans can expect, series antagonist Albert Wesker seemingly plays a “much bigger” part. Furthermore, his combat unit, the H.C.F., is allegedly a “main plot point” in the remake, from additional scenes with Wesker to “a bigger role in the story.”

Of course, Capcom has said nothing about a remake, so the wait continues for official information. In the meantime, Resident Evil Requiem launches on February 27th, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Check out the latest gameplay and all the details from Gamescom here.
