Nubia Air Could be an Affordable Galaxy S25 Edge Rival

A new more affordable rival to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 17 Air may have just emerged in the Nubia Air.

Uber-tipster Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has posted what appears to be a bunch of official renders of the so-called Nubia Air.

This appears to be a new super-skinny phone that could be looking to undercut the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and, indeed, Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 17 Air.

Nubia Air specs

The strapline for the cover Nubia Air poster is “Born Solid, Built Slim”. The slim part is explained by a little factoid listed below – this thing is going to measure a mere 5.9mm thick, which is very nearly as slim as the 5.8mm Galaxy S25 Edge.

As for the whole “Born Solid” part, this can be at least partially explained by at the inclusion of both IP68 and IP69 certification. The Galaxy S25 Edge only has the former.

Also confirmed is the Nubia Air’s display, which will be a 6.78-inch AMOLED with a 1.5K resolution, coated in Corning Corilla Glass 7i.

The rest of the images featured here show the Nubia Air’s design from all angles.

The biggest thing to note here is how similar the phone looks to the leaked renders of the iPhone 17 Air that have been hitting the internet for months now.

We’re not just talking about that super-slim flat-edged body, either. The Nubia Air’s long curvy-edged camera module looks mighty familiar. There are hints of the Google Pixel 9 in there, too.

There are two colours featured here: black and a kind of metallic off-gold. We also get a little pop of colour in the form of a red power button on the right hand edge, just below the volume rocker.

Previous rumours have suggested that the Nubia Air could run on a Unisoc T800 chip, which is very much not a flagship component. Together with Nubia’s history of undercutting its flagship rivals by hundreds of pounds (check out my Nubia Z70 Ultra review), we could be looking at the most affordable skinny phone of the lot.

If it features a 5000mAh battery, as rumoured, it could also have the best stamina of any skinny phone to date, too.
