A new shopping center dubbed “Tower Plaza Marketplace” has been proposed to be built on a vacant piece of land near the Denver International Airport.
The proposed development at East 64th Avenue and North Yampa Street will consist of a 40,000-square-foot mixed-use building anchored by a grocery store, along with additional retail spaces and dining options such as a Pho restaurant.
Using a Yahoo email account, concept plans were submitted to the city this month by Kelly Cong Chuong, who appears to be associated with Tower Plaza LLC, the listed owner of the parcel of land. Chuong couldn’t be reached for comment.
A separate five-story mixed-use building will also be developed on the corner of the property.
Denver property records show that the vacant land was purchased by Tower Plaza for $3.4 million in September of last year from L.C. Fulenwider Inc.
The project is within the Peña Station NEXT development area, a 220-acre mixed-use development. Fulenwider, DIA, Panasonic and KDC have been partners in the creation of Peña Station NEXT.
Additionally, KJ Hotel Properties LLC, a Missouri-based development company, plans to build a new four-story Candlewood Suites Hotel just south of the vacant lot.
The hotel will cover over 64,000 square feet and will feature 122 rooms, 123 parking spaces and an outdoor patio area.
