Champions from different realms will soon gather for a deadly competition once again. Mortal Kombat II is heading to cinemas, and its first trailer teases a bloody spectacle centred around the fan-favourite Johnny Cage, portrayed by Karl Urban.

Viewers had to wait over four years for the follow-up to the 2021 Mortal Kombat flick. One reason for the delay might have been the mixed reception of the first movie. From what we can see in the sequel trailer, this time, the filmmakers took a slightly different approach to the adapted material. Thanks to the mouthy Johnny Cage, Mortal Kombat II is likely to be more amusing and light-hearted than its predecessor. The film also seems to feature more well-known characters from the games.

If you haven’t watched it yet, check out the Mortal Kombat II trailer (you’ll need to be signed in as it’s age-restricted):

When could Mortal Kombat II tickets go on sale?

Warner Bros. Discovery, which distributes the new film from the Mortal Kombat universe, hasn’t yet announced when the tickets will go on sale. However, we’ll try to predict the date based on the studio’s previous blockbusters.

Tickets for Warner Bros. biggest releases, such as Dune: Part Two and A Minecraft Movie, had gone on sale five weeks before the films opened in cinemas.

Seat reservations for Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and Superman started about four and a half weeks before the theatrical release. However, booking for Joker: Folie à Deux was available only four days before the movie premiere – possibly due to the film’s bad reviews.

Mortal Kombat II will open in cinemas on Friday, 24 October 2025. The earliest that tickets could go on sale is five weeks before that day, around Friday, 19 September 2025.

However, Warner may consider such early ticket sales unnecessary and push the date back. In that case, we expect that advancing seats for Mortal Kombat II will be available between Monday, 22 September 2025 and Monday, 29 September 2025.
