The hearing that will look into Manchester City’s 115 alleged breaches of Premier League rules is set to start in September, with an outcome likely early in the new year, the Times reports.

Chelsea back in for Felix Newcastle go again for Guehi Forest near Sosa deal
The Times adds: “The independent commission had been expected to start in November but sources with knowledge of the case have said that it is now due to begin in mid-to-late September, unless there are further legal delays.

“The hearing has been scheduled to last ten weeks, with the commission members expected to deliver their verdict at the start of 2025. The outcome of City’s separate legal case brought against the Premier League’s associated party transaction rules (APT) is set to be revealed in the next two weeks, which would then allow the 115 charges hearing to take place earlier.”

City are alleged to have breached financial rules, with some of these dating back to 2009.

Chelsea back in for Felix

Chelsea are back in talks with Atlético Madrid over a signing Joao Felix after their move for Samu Omorodion collapsed, the Guardian reports.

The Guardian adds: “It is understood that Chelsea have held talks with Félix’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a deal to re-sign the 24-year-old Portugal forward on a permanent deal after they failed to agree personal terms with Omorodion, with Atlético valuing him at around €50m (£43m).

“A £34.5m fee for Omorodion – the Spain forward who was part of the gold medal-winning squad at the Olympics – had already been agreed with Atlético. But it remains to be seen whether that has any effect on the Spanish club’s move for Conor Gallagher despite the England midfielder being pictured in Madrid last week completing his medical.

“Atlético are poised to announce the signing of Julián Álvarez from Manchester City for a deal worth up to €95m (£81.5m) and were banking on the sale of Omorodion to fund their move for Gallagher.”

Newcastle go again for Guehi

Newcastle have made a third offer at Crystal Palace of an initial £55m for defender Marc Guehi, the Daily Mail reports. Newcastle’s interest in the England international has been no secret this summer, but a fee is yet to have been agreed.

This offer would increase to £60m with potential add-ons, but that amount is still below Palace’s minimum £65m valuation.

The Mail adds: “Newcastle were expected to return with a third offer for England star Guehi after we revealed on Friday that the Magpies had seen their second offer, believed to be at an initial £48million plus add-ons that would take the deal beyond the £50m mark, turned down by Palace.

“That offer is now in and being mulled over by Eagles chiefs. “Sporting director Paul Mitchell is handling negotiations for Newcastle and has informed Palace of their new offer.”

Forest near Sosa deal

Nottingham Forest are on the verge of signing 24-year-old winger Ramón Sosa from Argentine club Talleres, the Telegraph reports, while Forest are also on the hunt for another centre forward.

Paraguay international Sosa is set to cost Forest £11m, and a deal is likely to be done before the new Premier League season starts.

The Telegraph adds: “Nuno has been determined to add more width to his squad ahead of his first full season in charge and Sosa is regarded as a genuinely exciting talent.

“Forest completed the capture of Portuguese attacker Jota Silva last week, though it is understood there is a slim chance he could join Evangelos Marinakis’s Greek club Olympiacos on loan if Sosa and another winger arrive before the transfer deadline.

“Sosa is set for a medical in the next 48 hours and regarded as a signing for the first-team this season.”
