Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the Champions League quarter-final after emerging victorious from a penalty shoot-out following a 1-0 victory at Anfield.
Liverpool started strong but, against the run of play, a ruthless display of efficiency from the electric Ousmane Dembele saw PSG tie things up on aggregate 12 minutes in.
Dominik Szoboszlai saw what he thought was an equaliser ruled out for offside early in the second half, and tensions only continued to grow as Jarell Quansah’s diving header bounced back off the inside of the post with ten minutes to go, but the two sides could not be separated in regular time or extra time, and so it came down to a penalty shoot-out.
Gianluigi Donnarumma was the hero as he saved from both Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones, allowing Desire Doue to step up and fire home the deciding penalty.
