28 Years Later is one of the biggest zombie movies in years, and it’s the third film in the iconic survival horror trilogy.

28 Days Later, directed by Danny Boyle in 2002, tells the story of a young man, Jim (Cillian Murphy), who awakens from a coma to find himself in a post-apocalyptic world. With the help of a few survivors, he tries to endure a city overrun by a Rage Virus that turns people into bloodthirsty monsters. Besides Murphy, the film also features Naomie Harris, Christopher Eccleston, Brendan Gleeson and Megan Burns.

The follow-up to Boyle’s horror film, 28 Weeks Later, was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo in 2007. More than six months after the outbreak, the virus is dying down, and the surviving residents of the UK are returning home. However, when another infected person shows up, things yet again spiral out of control. The film features Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner and Idris Elba, among others.

The third film, directed again by Boyle, takes place nearly three decades after the outbreak of the Rage Virus. In 28 Years Later, 12-year-old Spike leaves a village on a small island to set off into the UK, now overrun by the infected. The star-studded cast includes Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell and Alfie Williams.
