Arrowhead Game Studios has released a new update for co-op shooter Helldivers 2. The update isn’t a major one – described by the studio as a hotfix – and aims to bring in a few fixes for some issues plaguing the game, including crashes and bugs. Check out the full patch notes below.
The hotfix, numbered at version 01.004.001, brings with it fixes for crashes that can happen when there are too many particle effects in a game, as well as a possible crash when Helldivers are in Hellpods after being reinforced. Some of the bugs that have been fixed also include a lighting bug related to the Hellpad which caused the light to be too light in some conditions.
There are also a few fixes for weapons and Strategems, like the LIFT-182 Warp Pack getting stuck in the air or crashing, and VFX related to Displacements Backpack when aiming down the sights of a weapon. Along with this, a couple of weapons have seen some balancing changes, with the S-11 Speargun having its reload duration decreased from 3.5 seconds to 2.5 seconds, and the MS-11 Solo Silo having its cooldown reduced from 210 seconds to 180 seconds.
Helldivers 2 got a major update earlier this month. Dubbed Into the Unjust, the update revolves around pitting players against Terminid forces. As part of the update, the Galactic War campaign has tasked players with attacking Terminid Hive Worlds to take out their hives. Some of the new gameplay additions part of the update include intricate randomly-generated cave systems that players will have to descend into to take on the Terminid forces. The update also brought with it two new mission types, revolving around destroying the Spore Lung and extracting oil while defending it from Terminid attacks.
The co-op shooter is available on PC and PS5, and as of last month, Xbox Series X/S as well. Its Xbox release was celebrated with the release of a Halo-themed Legendary Warbond.

Balancing
- S-11 Speargun: Decreased reload duration 3.5 -> 2.5 sec
- MS-11 Solo Silo: Reduced cooldown from 210 seconds to 180 seconds
Fixes
- Fixed a crash that can happen when too many particle effects are spawned
- Fixed a crash when Helldivers are in Hellpods after being reinforced
- Fixed an issue where light emitted by the Hellpad could become excessively bright under certain conditions
- General crash fix occurring during Automaton missions
- Fixed issue in which hive world tunnels would become darker than intended in certain circumstances when a user is using lower graphics settings
- Fixed a crash that could occur if the target of a seeking missile gets deleted before impact
- The extraction shuttle will land in a more safe and sound manner
Weapons & Stratagem Fixes
- Fixed the LIFT-182 Warp Pack getting stuck suspended in the air or crashing
- Fixed a rare crash caused by multiple players having the MA5C AR equipped on the Super Destroyer
- Fixed Displacements Backpack VFX issues whilst aiming down sights
- Fixed a rare crash which could occur when aborting a mission while a player was wielding a turret or driving a vehicle
