Hatsun Agro: Top executive uploads draft Q3 results on WhatsApp status by mistake

Hatsun Agro Product on Monday disclosed an unusual corporate governance lapse, informing stock exchanges that draft unaudited financial information for the December quarter was inadvertently shared on a senior executive’s personal WhatsApp status.

In a regulatory filing, the dairy products maker said one of its key managerial personnel had accidentally uploaded a “first-cut draft” of the company’s unaudited financial statements for the quarter ended December 2025, to his WhatsApp status around 5 pm on January 4, 2026.

The draft figures, which could qualify as unpublished price sensitive information, were intended for internal sharing with the company’s accounts department.

According to the disclosure, the WhatsApp status was viewed by around 19 people from the executive’s contact list, including a few insiders of the company. Hatsun Agro said the executive deleted the status within an hour of realising the mistake.

The company stressed that the figures shared were only in draft form and remain subject to change as the limited review process for the quarter is still ongoing.

However, as a precautionary step and in line with what it described as its commitment to high standards of corporate governance, the company decided to formally report the incident to the stock exchanges.

Hatsun Agro said it will shortly place the matter before its audit committee and board of directors. The company has also initiated an internal inquiry under the Sebi rules, as well as its own insider trading code.Once the inquiry committee completes its review, the report will be shared with the exchanges, the company said.

As part of remedial steps, Hatsun Agro added that it is in the process of recording all individuals who viewed the WhatsApp status in its structured digital database, as required under insider trading regulations.

Hatsun Agro’s December quarter financial results are yet to be formally announced.
