Out of nowhere, Valve announced not one, not two, but three pieces of Steam Hardware launching in early 2026. While it isn’t working on any first-party titles in the vein of Half-Life: Alyx to showcase its VR-focused Steam Frame, we may hear about HLX, rumored to be Half-Life 3, in the coming weeks.
Insider GabeFollower revealed on Discord that “nothing changed” from their information last year and that they’re “still aiming for a 2025 announcement.” Another long-time insider, Tyler McVicker, said in a recent Twitch stream that he expects an announcement within the next two weeks.
It’s worth noting that November 19th marks the anniversary of Half-Life 1, which debuted in 1998 for PC. An announcement this week, followed by a trailer at The Game Awards in December? Never say never.
Somewhat conspicuously, Mike Straw, who works for Insider Gaming, also tweeted, “It’s happening soon enough. Just be ready.” This could be further hinting at an HLX/Half-Life 3 announcement, though, as some have noted, Valve’s MOBA/hero shooter Deadlock could be released, if not enter open beta.
