Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 launched to a positive critical reception (check out our review here) and a peak concurrent player count of 103,567 on Steam. Of course, this is only the beginning of early access, and it has a ways to go before its 1.0 release. The developer has outlined its goals for development, revealing that it’s released several “small hotfixes” to address crashes and progression bugs.
It’s also gathering feedback alongside anonymous gameplay data to look at balance opportunities (though it described this process as “just getting started”). In the meantime, its first patch is due later this month and will address resource gathering. “We want Hades 2 players to focus on goals that are important to them, though don’t want resource gathering to feel too frustrating, such as if you didn’t bring the right gathering tool along for the ride.”
Melinoë’s movement is due for some improvements. “It’s important to us that Melinoë has her distinct style and for players to be able to navigate her battles and other interactions in a nimble, responsive, expressive way. We have ideas for how to improve her Dash and Sprint.” A few “other enhancements and fixes” are included, so stay tuned for detailed patch notes in the coming weeks.
Following this patch, Supergiant will release “at least one more” focused on short-term fixes and improvements before shifting to develop the first major update. The latter is planned to launch “some months from now” and includes “new features and content.”
Hades 2 is available early access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Other platforms have not yet been announced.
