While Gamescom has been considered a major gaming event for quite some time now, especially since E3 essentially died off, this year’s Gamescom might end up being one of the biggest ones yet for those attending the event. According to VGC, the organisers behind the event have confirmed that there will be more than 1,500 different exhibitors at the venue. Gamescom 2025 will go live on October 19 with Opening Night Live.
According to the organiser, the exhibitors will be coming in from 72 different countries, and this marks a record for Gamescom as a whole. This year’s show is taking place at the Koelnmesse venue, which comes in at 233,000 square metres when it comes to floor space. The venue also marks a new record for the event, coming in at 3,000 more square metres than the previous record.
“We are investing in a targeted fashion in expansion, infrastructure, and continuing development in order to further reinforce the economic success of our exhibitors,” said Koelnmasse president and CEO Gerald Böse. “The growth to 233,000 square meters of area and the record registration numbers confirm the sustained success of the hybrid event concept. Together we can already look forward to unprecedented variety.”
Felix Falk, managing director at German Games Industry Association also applauded the record, noting that anticipation for the event is “immense” for good reason thanks to Gamescom being host to events like Opening Night Live, as well as other at-venue events like cosplay, esports competitions and concerts.
“Whether in the community or in the international games industry, the anticipation for Gamescom 2025 is immense,” said Falk. “And for a good reason, because the Gamescom week has never had so many highlights – the Gamescom Opening Night Live, the biggest indie area to date, concerts, esports competitions, cosplay, and a great variety of exhibitors, for the first time more than 1,500. It is already clear now –the Gamescom year 2025 will be unforgettable.”
According to the official website for Gamescom, this year’s event will feature companies like Hoyoverse, Ubisoft, Xbox, Grinding Gear Games, Krafton, and Sega, as well as tech companies like Netflix, Alienware, Asus, Blackmagic Design, and Samsung.
Quite a few companies have already revealed what we can expect to see at their booths at Gamescom. Nintendo, for instance, has stated that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Hollow Knight: Silksong will be among the titles at its booth, while inZOI Studio has also confirmed that the life sim’s upcoming expansion will also be playable at the event.
Along with the showfloor, the event will also be host to Opening Night Live, where a bunch of games will be announced, and others will get new trailers. Capcom, for instance, will be offering an “exclusive new look” at its highly anticipated upcoming horror game Resident Evil Requiem. Obsidian will similarly be offering an “exclusive” theater presentation during Gamescom for The Outer Worlds 2.
Sony, however, has confirmed that it will once again be skipping Gamescom. The last time PlayStation had a presence at Gamescom was all the way back in 2019, however, so the company isn’t exactly pulling off a surprise with this move.
