Cherry Creek is getting another swanky showroom.
Thuma, a furniture brand with stores in New York’s SoHo and San Francisco, is planning to open in Denver at 257 Fillmore St. by this summer, the company confirmed to BusinessDen.
The business was founded in 2017 and opened its first store in New York City in 2024. The company’s main products are its minimalist beds, which customers assemble using Japanese joinery. Pieces are fitted into one another using wooden notches as opposed to screws; no tools are required for assembly.
A basic queen bed frame and headboard from Thuma retails at $2,000. The business also sells sofas, tables, rugs and other furniture accessories.
The Cherry Creek store will take up the 2-story building’s entire 5,800-square-foot footprint and cost $600,000 to build out, according to permit filings.
The 257 Fillmore building was most recently home to a clothing store and hat boutique. It’s owned by Kevin Beck, who purchased the property in 2014 for $1 million, records show.
Beck, who declined to comment, recently purchased another Cherry Creek property at 3035 E. Third Ave., where Italian restaurant Cucina Colore operates. He is considering developing an office building there.
Other companies that have added showrooms in Cherry Creek in recent years include Saatva, Ballard Designs, Natuzzi Italia, Joybird and Roche Bobois. Arhaus will also be joining the mix, having leased space in BMC Investments’ apartment building under construction at 299 Milwaukee St.
