CLUB STATEMENT:FAVOURITES TO BECOME NEW HULL MANAGER:

The favourites to become new Hull City manager is due as the boss Tim Walter leaves the Championship club after 18 games in charge.

Baz Cooper of Hull Live first reported on Wednesday (27 November) morning: “There’s a growing belief around #hcafc that change is coming and Tim Walter’s tenure is at an end.”

Four hours later, he added: “As per the earlier story, understand Tim Walter has left #hcafc this afternoon. Formal announcement expected before we get much older.”

Always sad when somebody loses their job, but it had to happen for the sake of everyone, including Tim himself. Last night was toxic and wasn’t a kneejerk reaction from the supporters who are fed up. It has been a tough gig for Walter, but #hcafc needed change.

— Baz Cooper (@bazdjcooper) November 27, 2024

#hcafc now need somebody to galvanise the squad, give them confidence, get them organised and get out of this mess quickly. Acun Ilicali’s next move is pivotal and potentially defining.

Full story on Tim Walter’s exit from Hull City. Statement due shortly. Andy Dawson will be taking charge for Saturday’s trip to Boro. #hcafc https://t.co/xIWO8mZlPP

CLUB STATEMENT:

Hull City can confirm we have parted company with head coach Tim Walter with immediate effect.

Assistant head coaches Julian Hübner and Filip Tapalović have also left the club.

First-team coach Andy Dawson will take interim charge while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a permanent successor.

We would like to thank Tim, Julian and Filip for their efforts during their time at the MKM Stadium and wish them well for the future.

Liam Rosenior was sacked after a 7th placed finish in May because Hull’s owner Acun Ilicali wanted more attacking football and didn’t believe Rosenior was capable of delivering it. https://t.co/JN9jE76wtu

Interviewer: Tim defeat against Sheffield Wednesday, sum up your thoughts at full time?

Tim: Tough game, tough game again so especially in the first half, we were not that sharp like I want them to be, we had the biggest chance in the games. Two times and unfortunately we missed again and then everything will come, like it was also in the last weeks, you got a penalty against you and then it was a point, where you, yeah, you can see that the heads are going a bit down, but it I think it’s human and afterwards second half we tried to change we tried to invest everything and then they had a counter and scored the second and then it was the game was over

Interviewer: As you mentioned well as we said on Saturday about the missed chances and then tonight two very unlucky chances with two good saves just it’s just not going in for us at the minute as it looks not on our side

Tim: Yeah but we have to fight against so that’s what we can do at the moment so that we just recover now it was a tough games now especially on Saturday and today so and we have to keep up high our heads and and looking forward for Saturday

Interviewer: And in the the second half once Wednesday had got that goal in the first and then second half they sat back put everyone behind the ball how difficult was it to to break them down

Tim: That’s the harder thing in football, that you have the depths inside therefore you need players who run in the depths, and then you have to be more precise then it’s yeah it’s even harder if you don’t find a One v One situation on the wings and then you had the chance and then maybe it was also a pen but then you missed it again so and then you have to run to run, to play to play and you have to be patient because if you lose the ball it’s difficult and it’s dangerous for us and so we see the counter and and the second goal and then then the game was over

Interviewer: Kasey Palmer’s made good impact off the bench in the last few games he started today um was dropping deep collecting ball and moving forward, how did you think of his performance today?

Tim: Yeah we are losing together and we’re winning together it’s not about one player but he deserved it to play and he did a good performance

Interviewer: Also Ryan Longman came in for his first start since injury Marvin came off of the bench to get some minutes under his belt how good was it to have those sort of build up their fitness ahead of…

Tim: It’s good to have more players back in the squad uh we need them and you can’t expect that that Ryan is that he is the same as before he needs a time and that’s the reason why he get the first half but yeah you have to do something else afterwards and that’s uh that was our reason to change it, it’s not about the performances, it’s also about maybe you you can’t expect at the moment more and he did it last week really well and so it’s normal and I’m happy that he’s back and also Marvin it’s good to have them back

Interviewer: Moving on to Saturday what are your thoughts going into Middlesbrough?

Tim: Oh today it was a hard day so first of all we have to recover and to think about and then we can look forward to Saturday

Interviewer: What are you personally looking from this performance to improve upon on Saturday yeah you have to do more intensity

Tim: you have to bring more um more intensity in the game more willingness and that’s what we have to do for Saturday

Loud boos from Hull fans after defeat to Sheffield Wednesday with Tim Walter departing

Here’s how fans reacted amid the favourites to become new Hull City manager as Tim Walter leaves after 18 games in charge…

@wakka80: Best for all parties involved

@coxy04089062: Do feel for him he will be devastated by his experience here and we all wanted to work for him and allowed him a good enough Time but we can all honestly say that it just wasn’t working.

@ReedW1990: It’s needed, especially after all the hard work Acun has done the last few years trying to get fans back. We don’t expect a winning run from a new manager, just different ideas during a game would be nice haha

@TigerDor: Never a nice decision to have to make but he looked broken last night. Best for all concerned.

@ChrisPHull: I’m glad it’s seemingly finally done, but it once again brings into the question the decision making. We’ve just had a break where a new manager could have been getting started, instead we waited for another 2 losses and NOW have the process to start #hcafc

@Alex_Fletcher91: Whoever comes in now needs to find a system to suit the players we’ve got and set them up to win football matches. Enough of this philosophy over everything nonsense, I wanted Walter to succeed but his refusal to change anything is what has ultimately cost him his job #hcafc

@LennyJT: I would say a change of manager will help us but if we’re only recruiting managers who play suicide attacking football we’ll be in the same position in another 5/6 months

@Ben_Dawg: For the good of the club, I’m glad we’ve not wasted (even more) time on getting this done. Next appointment must be a manger with understanding of the league and one who knows how to get the best out of each individual player, rather than force through a style of play #hcafc

@robdgillespie: In Daws we trust, but he’s got a hell of a job to pick up some of those players #hcafc

@HarryHcafc1904: Acun next decision on the manager in the biggest decision he’s had at this club. Gotta get it right
