Coming up today: a real chance for peace. At key talks in Berlin, European leaders have declared to have made ‘significant progress’ on ending the war in Ukraine but insisted that ‘nothing is agreed until everything is agreed.’
In a huddle between American envoys and EU leaders, Europeans said they stand ready to lead a peace-keeping force in Ukraine. To get up to speed, our Ukraine correspondent Sasha Vakulina will join us live in our studio.
We will also dive deeper into the politics and diplomacy behind the Berlin meeting, crossing over to the German capital where our correspondent Laura Fleischmann will fill us in.
Then, from the German capital to the French city of Strasbourg, where members of the European Parliament are meeting for the last plenary of the year. On the agenda: a potential showdown on the EU’s trade deal with South American bloc Mercosur. Thomas Waitz, the Austrian ecological farmer and MEP politician for the Greens Party, will be with us live for an interview.
And while MEPS are deliberating in Strasbourg, over 5000 farmers from all over Europe are on route to Brussels for a major protest this Thursday. That’s the same day as the EU summit. Our Jakub Janas has been taking a look at their winter of discontent and will explain further why it has come to be in the first place.
