Cavan’s PQE Technology to create 10 new roles as part of expansion

The engineering company’s new Cootehill premises will enable growth in both domestic and international markets.

PQE Technology, an engineering sub-component manufacturer, has announced the official opening of a new nearly zero energy building in Cavan, as part of its plan for domestic and international growth. The expansion will create 10 roles for professionals to be filled over the next 18 months.

Established in 1999 by Paul Quinn and located at Cootehill Enterprise Park, PQE currently employs 60 people and manufactures a range of components for projects domestically, in the Nordics, the UK and the US.

PQE is active across a range of industries, including agriculture, construction, materials handling, power distribution and renewable energy.

PQE Technology is supported by Enterprise Ireland through the Sustaining Enterprise Fund and the new premises was officially opened by the Minister of State for Trade Promotion, AI and Digital Transformation Niamh Smyth, TD, who welcomed the investment and jobs announcement.

She said, “Today’s expansion is a significant boost for Cavan, and the wider border region and will enable this innovative Irish company to scale its business globally. I would like to congratulate Paul and the entire team at PQE Technology. Their expertise and passion have driven the company’s success to date, and today’s announcement is a testament to their hard work.

“PQE Technology’s continued investment in its people, technologies and equipment has positioned it as a manufacturer of choice for OEMs [original equipment manufacturers] both at home and internationally. My department, through Enterprise Ireland, looks forward to continuing to work with PQE Technology as it grows into the future.”

Paul Quinn, the founder and managing director at PQE Technology, added, “The opening of our new facility marks a major milestone for us.

“We look to a bright future in both domestic and international markets and the expansion positions us to compete at the highest level while continuing to invest in our team, our technology and our home base here in Cootehill. We are proud to be growing an indigenous engineering business with global reach.”

Also in Cavan, in October, renewable energy company Galetech Group announced plans to create 65 high-value jobs to be filled over the next three years, as part of an expansion strategy that includes continued growth into international markets, such as Africa, Australia and the UK.
