Following its listing on the Xbox Store, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 now has a page on PlayStation.com. Listed plainly for PS4 and PS5, this pretty much confirms reports that the sequel won’t skip previous-gen consoles.
While it touted the worldwide reveal on June 9th (omitting any mention of the Xbox Games Showcase or dedicated Direct), the description states, “Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Black Ops 6.” It seemingly indicates a scenario where the protagonist and long-time characters like Frank Woods go AWOL.
It could tie into the game’s supposed Gulf War setting and story, which reportedly follows the fallout from the Cold War. It will supposedly offer a “nuanced narrative” on the former and the United States’ role in the same. Regardless of the direction, players can likely look forward to less futuristic weapons.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is rumored to launch in late October and has been playtested for two years per Treyarch. Stay tuned for more details and check out the live-action teaser.
