BrandWell Review: More Than A Rebrand

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. But just when I was about to write off Content At Scale as an outdated tool, they went and pulled a fast one on me — or should I say, BrandWell did.

Yes, the platform we once reviewed under its previous moniker has officially undergone a rebrand. And not just a fresh coat of paint, it’s a whole new philosophy and improved feature set. But can this content intelligence suite really live up to its lofty promises?

I decided to put BrandWell through its paces once again to find out. Stay tuned as we dive deep into what makes this rebranded platform tick: the good, the bad, and the “wait, that’s supposed to work?”

What is BrandWell?

BrandWell isn’t a new platform. We’ve actually covered it before, but back then, it was still operating under a different name: Content At Scale. This is just their rebrand.

Founded by SEO veteran Justin McGill, BrandWell is built to tackle a problem that’s been plaguing businesses since content became king: maintaining and optimizing your existing content without losing your soul to endless rewrites.

What makes BrandWell different is its obsession with real results. We’re talking about a complete content intelligence suite that combines everything you need: an advanced writing assistant, research-backed long-form content generation, keyword research, topic clustering, and optimization audits.

And while every other AI tool out there is busy churning out new content like there’s no tomorrow, BrandWell also breathes new life into your old content. They’ve developed a system that actually optimizes content based on real-time research and SEO data. And trust me, because of regular Google Core Updates, this is refreshingly practical.

Who is BrandWell For?

If you’re wondering whether BrandWell is the right fit for your business, let me break it down for you.

BrandWell is perfect for:

  • Content creators who are sick of juggling between 15 different tools just to publish articles. BrandWell’s all-in-one approach means you can finally delete half the bookmarks in your browser.
  • Marketing agencies drowning in client work. If you’re handling multiple brands and need to maintain quality while scaling up your content production, this is your lifeline.
  • SEO professionals who care more about actual results. BrandWell’s research-backed approach means every piece of content has a fighting chance to rank.
  • Small to large businesses who’ve been burned by “shiny” AI tools before and want something that actually works. No empty promises — just solid, data-driven content strategy.

So, What’s New?

  • 3x more content in each plan. BrandWell’s Essentials plan now comes with 25 posts per month instead of 8.
  • Advanced Brand and Link Graphs. It now crawls and evaluates your entire site to identify optimization opportunities, and automatically interlinks your relevant content.
  • Content Refresh. Lets you update and optimize your existing content.
  • Unlimited AI Tool Usage. AI Detector, Plagiarism Checker, Grammar Checker, and more without extra costs
  • More Powerful AI Capabilities. 40+ new and improved AI agents for book writing, social media, advertising, and more. BrandWell also ensures your content has data-backed keywords, real-time SERP insights, and long-lasting content quality.

What are BrandWell’s Features?

WriteWell

WriteWell is BrandWell’s AI writing assistant powered by a chatbot called AIMEE. This allows you to write, edit, or generate short-form content with ease.

This feature lets you create content using a keyword (or other sources such as podcasts and videos) using your website’s writing voice. You can also specify the optimal word count or tone. Unlike ChatGPT, their information has no knowledge cutoff. This means that everything in your article, to the best of their capabilities, is up to date.

Once they generate an article, you can task AIMEE to edit parts of your article by highlighting it. And by edit, I mean that you can improve the tone, summarize the subsection, expand or shorten, simplify the language — basically anything under the sun.

While editing the article, you can also check its AI or plagiarism likelihood score so you could tweak specific parts along the way.

RankWell

So now you have short-form articles, how about long-form? This is where RankWell comes in. This feature generates articles in bulk that are well-researched and SEO-optimized. That’s 95% of content creation done, all you need is editing.

RankWell works by uploading your entire website into a knowledge database which will be used to research topics, generate content in your writing style, and optimize your site. Interlinking is also no issue since your entire website’s context is uploaded to a graph that BrandWell uses when assessing articles.

Content Intelligence

You can’t really rank without knowing the competition, and that’s why BrandWell’s Content Intelligence feature is a must.

This feature gives you all the insight you need to level the playing field. I’m talking keyword metrics, audits, clustering, trends — all of that in one neat package that’s easily digestible even if you’re new to the game.

Free Features

AI Text Detector

BrandWell also has a free AI detection tool which can detect AI-generated content from GPT, Claude, Gemini — yadda, yadda, yadda. We all know what AI detectors are at this point, and the only thing that matters is if it works.

So, I tested it against content from popular LLMs. Here are the results:

BrandWell vs. ChatGPT: Incorrect

BrandWell vs. Gemini: Passed

BrandWell vs. Claude: Passed

Two out of three isn’t bad for a free AI detector, especially since this is just a quick test with a small sample size. But I wonder: it can detect AI content from LLMs directly, but what about from bypassers?

So, I also tested BrandWell against likely the best AI humanizer today: Undetectable AI.

BrandWell vs. Undetectable [1] Incorrect

BrandWell vs. Undetectable [2] Incorrect

BrandWell vs. Undetectable [3] Incorrect

Well, that didn’t work. I just don’t think BrandWell’s AI detector is as good as its free counterparts yet.

AI Image Detector

Not just for text, BrandWell also features a free AI image detection tool. Luckily, I have a wide gallery of Midjourney images to test this with. So, let’s start testing… oops.

Full transparency: I tried this tool multiple times across two days. I tried using different images, image types, and upload methods. But no matter what I try, all I get is this error:

So, is it good or bad? I don’t even know. All I know is that if you’re advertising it, you better make sure it works — and BrandWell failed in that regard.

How Much Does BrandWell Cost?

BrandWell has a subscription-based pricing structure. This is how much it costs to use their services:

Unlimited client guests, website audits, content intelligence usage, AI agents usage

You can also get their API for $4 per month.

BrandWell Pros & Cons

  • Free trial (but needs your credit card)

  • All-in-one content creation and optimization suite, combining writing, research, SEO, and more

  • Powerful AI capabilities that go beyond simple content generation, including editing, optimization, and brand/link graph analysis.

  • Robust content intelligence features provide in-depth competitive research and insights.

  • Ability to refresh and optimize existing content, not just create.

  • Content is highly detectable as “AI” even by their own detector.

  • Previous iteration had a low rating on TrustPilot.

  • Great for high-volume content, but there are better options (WriteSonic, Jasper, ChatGPT) for quick content.

  • AI detection capabilities are inconsistent, struggling to identify content from AI bypassing tools.

The Bottom Line

BrandWell is an ambitious attempt to be the be-all, end-all content creation and optimization platform. And in many ways, it succeeds — their feature set is highly impressive, the AI knowledge base is better than the competition, and the focus on tangible results rather than empty hype is refreshing.

But as the old saying goes, you can’t be everything to everyone. Its AI detector, both for image and text, still has some kinks to work out.

So is BrandWell worth the investment? It really comes down to your specific content needs and workflow. For enterprises and high-volume content creators, absolutely. But for solopreneurs or teams with more modest content requirements, the high price tag may be a tough sell compared to the competition.

It’s up to you and your needs. But one thing’s for certain: this is no longer the same old Content At Scale you may remember. BrandWell has emerged a better tool and adapted well. Just don’t expect it to be the perfect solution for every content challenge you face.
