It’s been a whopping seven years since the last installment of the Xenomorph franchise was released. Alien: Covenant certainly wasn’t the best part of the series, and it’s no wonder Hollywood has lost some faith in the universe. However, it hasn’t been abandoned for good. Alien: Romulus, directed by Fede Álvarez, is expected to be a fresh start for the franchise.
Cailee Spaeny, who you may remember from Priscilla and Civil War, plays the leading role in the film. Her character, Rain Carradine, along with the rest of the spaceship’s crew, will have to fight to the death against a mysterious predator.
The cinema is the best place to experience the battle against the Xenomorph, but if you’re curious about when the film will streaming services, VOD and DVD, keep reading our guide.

When will Alien: Romulus be released on VOD?
It’s unknown when the latest instalment of the Alien franchise will appear on digital. However, it usually takes one and a half to two months for a 20th Century Studio movie to appear on VOD after the cinematic release.
Although we must wait for the confirmed premiere date, we anticipate that Alien: Romulus will be available to buy or rent in early to mid-October 2024.
When could Alien: Romulus be released on streaming services?
As a 20th Century Studio film, the new Alien movie will drop on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK. The release date largely depends on the film’s performance at the global box office.
If the new Alien is a success, it could hit Hulu and Disney a month after its digital release, just like Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes did. However, if Alien: Romulus fails, the wait time for a streaming release may be much shorter, as with The First Omen, which appeared on Hulu and Disney just two days after its release on VOD.
20th Century Studios
Based on all of that, Alien: Romulus on Hulu and Disney will likely arrive any time from late October to early November 2024.
Accounts on Hulu start from $7.99 per month for an ad-supported version. The basic subscription for Disney+ with ads costs £7.99 a month.
When could Alien: Romulus be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Based on the releases of other 20th Century Studio films, we expect Alien: Romulus to hit store shelves about a month after it debuts on streaming – in late November 2024.
