Taylor Swift has revealed her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast.
A countdown appeared on Swift’s official website late Monday, leading to 12.12am ET (05:12 BST) on August 12. The site, glowing in glittering orange, briefly crashed before returning with details of the album – though no official release date has been set. It states only that the record will be shipped before October 13, adding, “THIS IS NOT THE RELEASE DATE, OFFICIAL RELEASE DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED.”
On Instagram, Swift’s marketing team, Taylor Nation, posted a carousel of 12 images from her Eras Tour captioned: “Thinking about when she said ‘See you next era …’”

Hours later, Swift appeared on New Heights, co-hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason. In a clip, she opened a briefcase to reveal a blurred vinyl. “This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl,” she said, prompting the Kelce brothers to scream.
The teaser came after weeks of relative quiet from the singer, who wrapped her record-breaking Eras Tour in December 2024.
Swift’s 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department, released in 2024, broke Spotify records for the most streams in a day (300 million) and a week (1 billion), while also making her the first artist to hold the entire top 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Earlier this year, she bought back the master recordings of her first six albums from Shamrock Capital, ending a long-running dispute that began when they were sold to music executive Scooter Braun in 2019.
“I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,” Swift wrote in May. “But that’s all in the past now. All of the music I’ve ever made … now belongs … to me.”
35-year-old Swift’s achievements include, but are not limited to:
- Selling an estimated 200 million records worldwide
- Becoming the most awarded artist at MTV’s VMAs
- Winning 14 Grammys, including a record four Album of the Year awards
- Earning more than $2 billion (€1.82 billion) from the Eras Tour, the first tour in history to cross the $1 billion (€910 million) mark
- Selling 2.4 million tickets in a single day for the tour
