Ireland is an ideal location for US companies to ‘set up shop’, due to the current tax rates, its position as a gateway to the rest of Europe and its highly skilled workforce. For those reasons, there are roughly 970 US companies operating in Ireland, employing around 211,000 people.
For ambitious professionals in Ireland, there are plenty of opportunities to work for interesting, US-founded companies in a broad range of sectors, such as pharmaceuticals, medtech, cybersecurity and technology, among others. So, if you are looking to find a new role in a US company located in Ireland, read on to see if there is an opportunity waiting for you.
Abbott
Medical devices and healthcare company Abbott Laboratories currently has 121 openings in Ireland. Tech jobs include a manager for manufacturing engineering, several network engineers, a cloud data engineer lead and a cyber incident response analyst. Last year, the medtech giant opened a new manufacturing facility in Kilkenny to develop products for diabetes diagnostics and care.
Accenture
Irish-American tech consulting and professional services provider Accenture has three Irish premises in Dublin and there are several interesting opportunities for qualified professionals. Open roles include recruitment analyst ops, capital projects consulting manager, pharmasuite MES consultant, cyber incident responder and senior power apps developer, among others.
Amgen
Biopharma Amgen is headquartered in the US, with additional premises at two locations in Dublin and one in Waterford. Professionals can apply for roles such as process development manager, manufacturing information and technology systems engineer, QC microbiology senior manager and principal automation and technology project lead.
Bristol Myers Squibb
If you are based in Ireland, with ambitions to work for New Jersey-headquartered Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS), why not consider applying to its Cruiserath, Dublin office. Vacant job opportunities include a role as a senior specialist in QC microbiology, maintenance engineer for sterile drug products and EHSS specialist.
Datavant
Arizona-headquartered Datavant recently announced its expansion into Ireland with the opening of its new global R&D centre in Galway. Recruitment is currently underway to fill 125 new technology and engineering jobs. Advertised roles include automation test engineer, senior automation test engineer, senior data integration engineer and staff software engineer.
Fidelity Investments
Boston-headquartered multinational financial services firm Fidelity Investments also has offices in Dublin and Galway. For professionals based in Ireland, there are opportunities in technology, risk management and product development. Vacancies include senior systems analyst, software engineer, squad leader, principal full stack engineer and principal cloud engineer, among others.
Mastercard
Payment card services provider Mastercard has 77 open roles in Ireland currently. Open roles include a senior systems platform architect, a principal software engineer, a product development manager and a front-end software engineer.
Mastercard’s Olivia Leonard spoke to SiliconRepublic.com last December about her thoughts on the future of work.
“As AI continues to advance, skills in machine learning, deep learning and data science will be critical,” she said.
Qualcomm
Qualcomm, which develops semiconductors, software and services for telecoms, has 52 open roles in Ireland currently. Jobs on offer include a CAD product engineer, a back-end lead engineer, a security design engineer and a computer graphics machine learning engineer.

Rent the Runway
New York-headquartered e-commerce platform Rent the Runway actually opened its first-ever location outside of the US in Galway, Ireland. For potential candidates aiming to move into the e-commerce space, applicants can apply for two positions currently on offer, software engineer III full-stack and front-end, as well as a senior product manager for the consumer platform.
Salesforce
Last December, Salesforce announced plans to hire 2,000 people globally to meet AI demands. The cloud software company currently has more than 100 jobs open in Ireland. Tech roles include several software engineers, an account solutions engineer and director of product management.
