Initially announced at Project 007, IO Interactive has revealed the official title for its upcoming James Bond game – 007 First Light. As promised, it’s an origin story that will see players step into “the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status,” per the official website.
A reveal is planned for later this week, which could occur at the Summer Game Fest showcase on June 6th. IO Interactive hasn’t revealed anything about the gameplay or mechanics, but it has confirmed this is an original story with no ties to other James Bond media. However, it will take inspiration from various books and films.
Job listings indicated a potential blend of first- and third-person gameplay, with sandbox storytelling similar to the developer’s successful Hitman franchise. A release window hasn’t been announced, but IO Interactive confirmed that it would launch for the Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. Perhaps it will reveal other platforms later this week.
