For years, the Alien film series has struggled to meet fan expectations and match the glory of Ridley Scott’s first movie, made in 1979. However, with Alien: Romulus comes the chance for a new opening – the film, directed by Fede Álvarez, will return to the roots of the universe.
The ninth instalment of the franchise will be a standalone horror with no connections to other films. The plot, set between Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), will take viewers to a derelict space station, where the strange life form is hidden. A group of inexperienced colonisers will have to fight for survival with the dreadful Xenomorph creature.
Alien: Romulus will feature a young cast led by Cailee Spaeny, who you may know from Mare of Easttown, Priscilla, or Civil War. If you want to see how her character fares in the upcoming film, then we have everything you need to know about tickets.
Alien: Romulus isn’t the last instalment of the franchise. To know more about the upcoming TV series, check out our round-up on Alien by FX.
