Jarrod Bowen eased the pressure on West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui, with his winning goal securing a 2-1 victory over Wolves.
The Hammers’ skipper settled a nervy clash with a wonderful individual effort in the 72nd minute, after Matt Doherty had cancelled out Tomas Soucek’s earlier effort at the London Stadium.
With Gary O’Neil desperate for a win, Wolves created the best opportunity of the first half, with Joao Gomes turning Doherty’s deep cross wide from close range.
West Ham broke through nine minutes after the restart, with Soucek sending a looping header over the flat-footed Sam Johnstone from a Bowen corner.
VAR denied Mohammed Kudus and The Hammers a second goal, before Wolves equalised in the 69th minute with Doherty brilliantly turning in Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross on the half-volley.
However, the visitors were level for just three minutes as, following a short corner, Bowen cut inside a challenge before sweeping a low shot into Johnstone’s bottom-right corner.
Kudus saw another goal chalked off for offside, but West Ham had done enough to get over the line.
