This year, the horror genre continues its winning streak – Weapons, directed by Zach Cregger, is a surprising hit that has taken the global box office by storm.
Produced for only $38 million, the film tells the story of the disappearance of seventeen children in an American town, Maybrook, Pennsylvania. Faced with little help from the police, the local community blames the bizarre event on a school teacher, Justine Gandy (Julia Garner). Desperate, the woman decides to solve the mystery herself, unaware of the terrifying events that await her.
The smash-hit horror film is best seen on the big screen. However, if you’re already wondering when you can rewatch it from the comfort of your own home, keep reading this article.

Currently, the film is available exclusively in cinemas.
In the UK, you can book tickets via Vue, Showcase, Odeon or Cineworld websites.
In the US, tickets are available on AMC Theatres, Fandango or Atom Tickets.

When could Weapons be released on VOD?
Warner Bros., who distributes the horror film, hasn’t yet revealed any information on its digital premiere. However, we will try to predict when it may arrive on VOD services.
The studio’s most successful releases, such as Dune: Part Two and Sinners, tend to appear on VOD around 46 days after they open in cinemas. However, A Minecraft Movie, Superman, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice did so, respectively, in 39, 35 days, and 32 days.
At the time of writing, Weapons had grossed $200 million worldwide, becoming a surprising smash hit. Therefore, in the US, it may drop on VOD between Tuesday, 9 September and Tuesday, 23 September 2025.
In the United Kingdom, the Julia Garner-led film will likely hit digital around the same time as in the US, as was the case with the Warner movies mentioned above.
When could Weapons be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Warner’s most profitable movies usually hit stores 28 days after the digital release. However, there are exceptions to that. The aforementioned Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appeared on DVD and Blu-ray 42 days after the premiere on VOD. What’s interesting, copies of A Minecraft Movie and Sinners first appeared on streaming services, and only four days later on discs.
Based on this, we expect Weapons to launch on DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, 7 October 2025, at the earliest, and on Tuesday, 4 November 2025, at the latest.
In the United Kingdom, physical copies of Warner films typically arrive around 42 days after they are released on VOD. Therefore, Weapons may appear in UK stores between Tuesday, 21 October and Tuesday, 4 November 2025.
When could Weapons be released on streaming services?
In the US, Warner’s movies are available to stream on HBO Max. Some of the biggest releases hit the service quickly – Dune: Part Two arrived 7 days after debuting on DVD and Blu-ray, while Beetlejuice Beetlejuice after 17 days.
On the other hand, Sinners – a horror and one of this year’s most successful premieres, dropped on HBO Max 31 days after its physical release. A Minecraft Movie needed 38 days to hit streaming.
Therefore, Weapons may arrive on HBO Max between Tuesday, 14 October and Friday, 12 December 2025. It’s possible that the film will be released on HBO Max just before Halloween – 31 October 2025.
