VisionR to create up to 30 Irish jobs and fuel US expansion

The company’s plans for growth are supported by a pre-Series A funding round of €1.45m.

Irish retail technology company VisionR has closed a €1.45m pre-Series A funding round, which was led by Middle Game Ventures, who are known for backing tech companies Conjura and Wayflier. The round was also supported by Delta Partners, a long standing supporter of VisionR.

Over the coming years, the investment will create up to 30 jobs based in Dublin and drive VisionR’s expansion into the US. There are also plans to further expand EU operations and set the stage for a larger Series A funding round in 2026.

VisionR, which is headquartered in Dublin, was founded in 2018 by friends Shane O’Sullivan and Oran Mulvey. The organisation uses data and GenAI to generate real world information on consumers, for brick-and-mortar retailers. The platform can address challenges related to stock, staff scheduling and A/B testing for store layouts.

Commenting on the news, O’Sullivan said, “Over 80pc of global retail transactions still happen in physical stores. Retailers need tools that help them operate smarter and derive insights and actions from data to improve customer experiences. That’s exactly what VisionR is here to do.”

Mulvey added, “Having Middle Game Ventures on board is a strong validation of our vision. Their deep focus on data and proven track record in scaling innovative companies makes them the ideal partner as we take this next step.”

Europe’s AI scene is rapidly expanding as more and more companies undertake ambitious expansion projects. London-headquartered AI-start-up PhysicsX recently announced it had raised $135m in a Series B funding round, bringing total investment in the start-up to almost $170m.

The money raised will be put towards global expansion and the further development of its powerful foundational physics models. The start-up aims to equip manufacturing companies with advanced AI tools in an enterprise software platform, for critical industries such as aerospace and defence, automotive, semiconductors, materials and energy.
