It’s 2024 and paraphrasing tools are still as relevant as ever, but maybe for different reasons compared to before.
Let’s rewind a little bit to before ChatGPT was released. Paraphrasing tools like Grammarly, QuillBot, and Jasper were already gaining popularity because they’re handy writing assistants. They can paraphrase your input, sure, but at their core, they make sure that your writing is better than the initial draft.
So, what changed? AI.
Because of the popularity of AI tools, many have become wary of using it for less-than-ideal purposes. That’s the reason why AI detection tools became popular, and consequently, the reason why many students are now in danger of false positive AI detection.
And then came the AI bypassing tools or AI humanizers. These tools exist to make sure you won’t get unfairly accused of using AI. One of these is Undetectable AI — and in this article, I’m going to pit it against WriteSonic.
What is Undetectable AI?
Let’s face it: AI detection isn’t as reliable as we hoped it would be. Students everywhere are still getting falsely accused of using AI for their assignments because of the randomness that comes with AI detectors.
Undetectable AI is the solution for that.
This AI paraphrasing tool is different from Grammarly and QuillBot because — instead of focusing on making your input more readable — Undetectable AI rewrites your text so it would be classified as “human-written” when tested by common AI detection tools. We’ve reviewed it in the past and let me tell you this: it’s pretty consistent (but it does have its shortcomings, which we’ll get to later).
What is WriteSonic?
On the other hand, WriteSonic isn’t just a paraphrasing tool — it’s a complete content creation suite. Think of it as a swiss-army knife, but for writing. When I say it has a lot of features, I do mean A LOT. The most popular among those are its AI writing assistant and chatbot, article writer, paraphrasing tool, and SEO checker for article insights.
For this article though, we’re going to focus on its “Rewriter” template, which is their AI paraphrasing tool.
How Are Undetectable AI and WriteSonic Different?
On paper, these two platforms aren’t really built for comparison. Undetectable AI is an AI humanizer, while WriteSonic is a complete AI writing toolkit. That’s why we’re only going to focus on the latter’s paraphraser and compare the two using the following criteria: output quality and AI likelihood score.

Undetectable AI has a few issues, to say the least. It’s less polished, with some awkward phrasing and punctuation errors. There are missing spaces (and even added spaces) after periods and commas in places. The sentence structure is clunky, making it less smooth to read. It’s not terrible, but it certainly won’t give you an A+ or any awards either.
WriteSonic, on the other hand, shines. It’s well-structured, with clear paragraphs and bullet points for easy reading. The grammar is spot-on, and there are no spelling errors. It flows nicely, making it a breeze to read. The sentences are concise and informative. It captures the essence of the original while being more readable. I just wish that it didn’t add a bullet list to the essay.
That said: while WriteSonic is clearly superior in terms of grammar, spelling, and readability, it’s worth noting that Undetectable AI does keep the main points of the original. It’s just less polished in its presentation. WriteSonic’s output is a great example of effective paraphrasing that improves upon the original in terms of structure and clarity.

The Bottom Line
There are two ways of looking at these results and both are valid.
On one hand, you can look at WriteSonic’s well-written outputs and conclude that it’s better than Undetectable AI because it can write coherent sentences without errors. On the other hand, you can point towards Undetectable AI’s low AI likelihood score average and think it’s the better of the two.
The thing is: you’re not wrong either way.
Like I said previously, these two platforms are made for completely different objectives. While the core concept of writing is the same, WriteSonic focuses on readability and marketability while Undetectable AI deals with preventing false positive AI detection in schools and in the workplace.
So, it’s anticlimactic, but there’s just no better option — both are good enough. It’s just a matter of assessing your use case and figuring out which works better for you.
