AI detection has been a touchy subject for a long time. On the one hand, it’s the best defense most people have against AI misuse, especially in academia. On the other hand, it’s been the cause of ruined reputation among students who were falsely accused of using artificial intelligence for their work.
The latter has been the cause of a new segment in the market: AI bypassers. These are tools that paraphrase your work in such a way that it avoids AI detection altogether. The issue with this, apart from being a tool that can be abused for academic misconduct, is that most tools have subpar outputs.
But there’s one that stands out even after testing it against every detector in the market, and that’s Undetectable AI. And, if we’re talking about academic tools, we also can’t ignore Scribbr’s paraphraser.
So, in a direct comparison, which one wins? Let’s find out.
What are Undetectable AI and Scribbr?
Undetectable AI is an application that modifies text generated by AI to appear more human-written, allowing it to bypass AI plagiarism detection tools. You can read more about it in our full review here.
On the other hand, Scribbr is a service which has a full suite of features aimed at helping students and academics with their writing and research needs. In this comparison article, we’ll focus on one of its features: their paraphrasing tool.
Undetectable AI vs. Scribbr: Feature Set
Undetectable AI has the hallmark features of most AI bypassers in the market. This includes the following:
- Readability Customization: High school, university, doctorate, journalist, and marketing.
- Use Case Customization: Essays, articles, marketing materials, stories, cover letters, reports, business materials, or legal materials.
- Balance: More readable, more human, or balanced.
- Likelihood of AI Detection: Aggregates the AI likelihood score from GPTZero, OpenAI (now defunct), Writer, Crossplag, Copyleaks, Sapling, Content At Scale, and ZeroGPT.
You can also get their human typer extension, which simulates human typing in Google Docs using an input.
Scribbr is a lot more feature rich. Its paraphraser alone has access to 26 languages and allows you to paraphrase specific parts of the text by highlighting them. You can also upload a document instead of copy and pasting text. However, their paraphraser isn’t really “theirs,” but rather an embedded version of QuillBot’s, which we’ve reviewed in-depth previously.
Beyond its paraphraser, Scribbr also has a citation tool, AI and plagiarism detector, personalized proofreading and editing, and a text summarizer — everything you’d expect from an application specifically made for academic writing.
For features, I’d have to give this round a tie. Both have a lot of features that address different use cases. For Undetectable, it focuses solely on hiding AI writing. For Scribbr, the focus is improving academic writing.
Undetectable AI vs. Scribbr: Fluency
Jigsaw puzzles, those intricate tangles of cardboard pieces, offer a timeless blend of challenge and satisfaction. More than just a pastime, they engage our minds in multiple ways. Sorting the pieces by color, shape, and pattern trains our visual perception and spatial reasoning. As we meticulously connect them, a sense of accomplishment builds with each click, rewarding our patience and persistence. Beyond the solitary pursuit, jigsaw puzzles foster connection. Working on them together becomes a shared journey, a conversation woven through the process of piecing together the image. Families, friends, and even strangers can bond over the shared frustration and eventual triumph of completing a complex puzzle. |

Jigsaw puzzles, with their interlocking cardboard pieces provide a mix of challenge and satisfaction that transcends time. Beyond a hobby they stimulate our minds in ways. Sorting the pieces by color, shape and design enhances our perception and spatial reasoning skills. As we painstakingly piece them together a feeling of achievement grows with each click rewarding our perseverance and attention to detail. Apart from being a solo activity jigsaw puzzles promote connection. Collaborating on them turns into a shared adventure, a dialogue woven through the process of assembling the picture. Families, friends and even strangers can bond over the struggles and eventual triumphs of finishing a puzzle. |
The complex mazes made of cardboard pieces known as jigsaw puzzles provide a classic combination of challenge and reward. They are more than just a hobby; they stimulate our minds in several ways. Our visual perception and spatial reasoning are trained by sorting the pieces according to color, shape, and pattern. With every click as we carefully connect them, we feel more accomplished, rewarding our perseverance and patience. Jigsaw puzzles encourage connection beyond the solitary endeavor. Collaborating on them together develops into a journey that is shared, with dialogue woven throughout the picture-assembling process. The frustration and eventual success of solving a challenging puzzle can bring people together, including family, friends, and even complete strangers. |
According to these two only, we can assume that both Undetectable AI and Scribbr’s outputs read smoothly with clear sentence structures and transitions. However, the latter has an edge in using varied sentence structures compared to the former’s simpler sentences. They both have a good command of the English language, but Scribbr also uses more precise language.
Undetectable AI, however, is more liberal with using punctuation errors to mask AI writing. For instance, the first sentence of its second paragraph would read better had there been a comma between “activity” and “jigsaw.” It’s also a bit more redundant and uses more fluff words.
For creativity, both sentences use enough simile and metaphor to simulate human writing. However, Undetectable AI only uses metaphors from the original text, whereas Scribbr creates its own, showing better creativity and nuance than the former.
So, in a head-to-head comparison of fluency, there’s really no question that Scribbr wins this round.

So, What Now
The phrase “comparing apples and oranges” gets thrown a lot in software — but it definitely applies here. The reason why Undetectable AI is far better than Scribbr in avoiding AI detection while Scribbr is far better in fluency and creativity is that they’re made for different purposes.
If you want to avoid being falsely accused of using ChatGPT or other models, you should invest in Undetectable AI, which has low AI likelihood scores. If you want to supercharge your thesis or dissertation, Scribbr is a no-brainer because of its wide range of academic writing features.
Ultimately, there’s no definitive answer. What we do know is that they’re both incredibly effective at what they do. These are products that are both worth your time and money.
