Imitated, but never duplicated, Unpacking is a cozy game that tells a surprisingly emotional story through the meditative process of organizing your belongings in different rooms (it’s fun, but don’t just take it from me; it earned the number 13 spot in viraltrendingcontent’s 2021 game of the year ranking). The game is a wealth of luscious pixel art, lovingly crafted for items ranging from the mundane to the truly distinct, each paired with a unique snippet of satisfying foley audio. Now, thanks to Serenity Forge, many of those same items are available for you to unpack in your own home.
This collection includes replicas of the in-game plushies and posters inspired by the same in-game items. You won’t find a Gamecube hanging out in here, but it still includes an adorable family of chickens, an edgy anti-hero poster signed by the game’s developers, and a little stuffed pig that serves as the game’s mascot.
For those who haven’t played Unpacking, it starts in a child’s bedroom. You’ll later move into a college dorm, and eventually a home with children. Thanks to its lack of timers or a scoring system, Unpacking fosters a more laid-back gaming experience. Much like unpacking in real life, the reward is seeing all of your favorite stuff neatly arranged in your new space.
We’ve pulled aside a few of our favorite items and where you can find them.
