Lionsgate has had no luck this summer. Right after the spectacular flop of Borderlands came another disaster, equally painful and equally unsurprising. The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård and, for some reason, FKA Twigs, is a remake of a cult classic from the ’90s – a remake that no one wanted and no one needed.
The original film The Crow, based on the book series by James O’Barr, became famous for its gothic atmosphere and the tragic death of its star, Brandon Lee, who was accidentally shot and killed on set. His loss only contributed to the film’s legend and secured it a special place in the heart of its fans.
It seems that Lionsgate missed the mark when planning a remake: both fans of the original and a new generation of viewers seemed to distrust and dislike the idea of a new film. It performed poorly at the box office, but could it redeem itself during a home media release? Here’s when and how you can watch it.
How to watch The Crow now
The remake of the ’90s cult classic is available in US and UK cinemas.
If you want to see The Crow at the cinema, you can book tickets at the AMC Theatres in the US and at Vue, Cineworld, Odeon, and Showcase in the UK.
Here’s the trailer for the movie:
When will The Crow be released on VOD?
The disastrous The Crow remake came right after the flop that was Borderlands, an adaptation of a series of post-apocalyptic games. Borderlands, starring Cate Blanchett, was destroyed by audiences and critics alike and seriously underperformed at the box office. As a result, it’s set to hit VOD on 30 August, only three weeks after its theatrical release.
If Lionsgate decides to follow the same path with The Crow, we could see the film digitally as early as 13 September 2024.
Note, however, that this is only a prediction, and has yet to be officially confirmed by Lionsgate.
When could The Crow be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Lionsgate’s movies usually appear after debuting on VOD, but the waiting period varies.
Boy Kills World, another less-than-successful film starring Bill Skarsgård, is still awaiting release on DVD and Blu-ray. On the other hand, physical copies of the disappointing The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare came out two and a half months after its debut on VOD.
So, if The Crow comes out on DVD and Blu-ray at all, it could happen in late November 2024.

When could The Crow be released on streaming services?
Lionsgate usually launches its films on streaming six months after a theatrical release. If the company sticks to this rule for The Crow, the film might not appear on Starz until late February 2025. Slightly later on, the movie will hit Peacock.
The basic Starz subscription costs $8.99 per month or $74.99 per year, with a seven-day free trial. You can get the basic ad-supported Peacock Premium for $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year.
However, there is a possibility that, due to The Crow’s poor box office performance, Lionsgate will make an exception and put the film on streaming earlier. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more.
Lionsgate’s Songbirds & Snakes and John Wick 4 were released on Prime Video in the UK, so The Crow may also drop on this streaming service around February 2025. An Amazon Prime subscription costs £8.99 per month, but new users can get a 30-day free trial.
