In 2025, air fryers aren’t hard to come by – from single-drawer to dual-drawer to air fryer oven to multicook options. But I can say with hand on heart that the Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill EY905D40 is one of the best air fryers out there, so you might want to give it serious consideration for a spot in your kitchen.
Crafted by the cookware giant Tefal, you’re in safe hands with this piece of kitchen kit. Founded in the 1950s, the company has been making air fryers for more than 15 years. The Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill isn’t the latest (or largest) in Tefal’s air fryer range. In fact, the 8.3L appliance was the French brand’s first-ever dual drawer model.
After two years of testing and tweaking, the Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill finally hit the shelves in 2023. And since then, the hardy piece of kit – which promises to cook food 40% faster than a conventional oven, as well as saving up to 70% of the energy you’d use oven cooking – has become the talk of the town, with Jamie Oliver putting it through its paces in his Channel 4 show, Jamie’s Air Fryer Meals. So, to see what all the fuss is about, I tested it out for four weeks. Here’s what I found.
Design & Build
- 40-200°C temperature range
- 8 cooking modes
- Easy-to-use digital display
After you’ve unboxed this kitchen gadget and made enough space on your kitchen counter, it’s hard not to love the unassuming, inoffensive and smart design of the Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill.
At 7.8kg, it’s not the heaviest air fryer, which is handy to know if you intend to stash it away in a cabinet after each use. But that’s not to say it feels flimsy. As is the case with most larger or dual-drawer air fryers, like the Ninja Foodi FlexDrawer or the ProCook air fryer health grill, this piece of kit will take up a considerable amount of space on your worktop. It’s 41.8cm deep and 40cm wide.
Design-wise, its outer panels are crafted from durable, rust-resistant and scratch-resistant stainless steel, so this dual-zone air fryer is made to last. But for some extra peace of mind, you might be pleased to learn that it comes with a two-year guarantee.
Looks aside, two design features make this air fryer stand out. The first is its different-sized drawers, which are 5.2L and 3.2L – collectively, enough room to feed up to eight people. The asymmetrical baskets mean you can cook larger food items, like a whole chicken in the bigger drawer or vast quantities of a side dish such as chips.

Meanwhile, the second drawer gives you the flexibility of cooking smaller sides or meals for one.

And while the air fryer design looks great, it’s important to note that the baskets don’t have a viewing window. So, unlike some models or a traditional oven, you won’t be able to check on your food cooking inside without opening a drawer.
The second stand-out feature is its ability to grill food in its first basket, thanks to the ‘Grill’ cooking mode and removable, die-cast grill plate. So if, like me, you’re a fan of grilled food, this air fryer gives you the option to enjoy the taste that comes from cooking directly on a heated metal grate – with 98% less smoke than you’d get with a traditional grill.
The Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill has eight pre-set cooking programmes which take all the guesswork out of dishing up dinner. These include fries, chicken, vegetables, fish, dessert, dehydrate, manual and a grill mode. However, the time and temperature are adjustable for each cooking setting (within the limits of the cooking type).

As is the case with most dual-zone air fryers, Tefal’s fryer and grill comes with a ‘Sync’ function, which lets you run two separate cooking programmes at once, but ensures they’ll finish at the same time. That way, everything can be dished up at once and nothing will go cold.
Performance & Features
- Powerful, with 2,700W of cooking power
- Fries programme comes with a ‘shake’ reminder
- Grill function
- Near silent operation
At 2,700W, Tefal’s Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill comes with a shedload of power. Because of this, I assumed it would be loud. But even with both baskets in operation, it’s just 62db, which is equivalent to the noise of a normal conversation.
Of course, one of the main reasons that people buy air fryers is because they’re much more affordable to run than your average cooker. So you’ll need to bear in mind that its high wattage means that this Tefal appliance will be more expensive to run than lower-watt air fryer models if you use both baskets at once. But you’ll still save overall.
Tefal states that this do-it-all product will not only save on washing up (the baskets and grill plate are dishwasher-safe) but that it cooks food 40% faster than a conventional oven. And I can well believe it because while this powerful piece of tech might be pricier to run than your average dual-drawer air fryer, only the grill programme needs preheating. So all other programmes will reach the desired cooking temperature in no time at all.
I especially noticed this when cooking salmon fillets, which were evenly done to my liking in 9 minutes (yes, really!). After the time was up, the skin was crispy and the fillets were flaky. Meanwhile, after receiving a reminder to ‘shake’ my homemade fries 15 minutes in, this side dish took just 30 minutes to turn golden and fluffy. Most nights, I cooked my carbs at the same time as grilling fish after using the handy ‘Sync’ mode, which meant a full fish supper was on my plate in 30 minutes.

Over the weeks of testing, I also cooked solo meals in the second basket, air-fried vegetables including peppers and onions and legumes, such as chickpeas, and I grilled sausages and chicken, which was a real treat: it doesn’t leave any lasting cooking smells or the smoke that would usually come with grilling.
Usually, I turn down the temperature on each cooking mode to prevent food from overcooking. But that extra step wasn’t necessary with the Tefal. Each time I set this air fryer to work, my food was cooked perfectly, which in my case means with a golden-brown coating and crunchy texture.
Another plus to this product? The name says it all: the Easy Fry is indeed effortless to use. I must admit, I did read the quick start guide from front to back to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. But it’s really not a necessity, which is a testament to how intuitive this air fryer is.
The touchscreen interface is oh-so-simple. Just use the touch screen buttons to choose the programme you’d like to use, light up the basket number, adjust time and temperature controls if necessary and you’re good to go. Air frying really is that simple.
Price & Availability
The Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer and Grill has an RRP of £199.99 but it’s now widely available for £129, which makes it an excellent value buy, especially when compared to other models with a similar functionality and capacity.
It’s available from Currys, John Lewis, Argos and direct from Tefal. If you’d like to see more recommendations, you can compare it to the other models in our round-up of the best dual-drawer air fryers we’ve tested.
We also have recommendations for the best Ninja air fryers, the best air fryer ovens, and the best air fryers overall.
Should you buy the Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill?
I’m pretty chuffed with this air fryer. It looks good, cooks well and the pièce de résistance is that you have the option to grill food—which not every air fryer can do. I don’t say this often, but it was hard to find any real noteworthy flaws that would dissuade anyone from adding this air fryer to their shopping basket.
The only couple of bugbears worth keeping in mind are that you won’t get a reminder to shake your food (unless you’re using the ‘fries’ programme). The Tefal also doesn’t come with a frozen mode, so you’ll have to work out the best setting to cook your freezer goodies.
Lastly, unlike a Dreo ChefMaker or the Sage/Breville smart oven air fryer, there’s no viewing panel in the door. But if you can look past these design features, the Tefal Easy Fry Dual Air Fryer & Grill EY905D40 is pretty perfect.
So, if you’re looking to upgrade your air fryer from a single drawer to a double, this dishwasher-friendly buy is a worthy option. If you like the taste of grilled food without the fuss of all the smoke, this near-silent air fryer ticks 9 out of 10 boxes. And if you want the option of rustling up large meals and solo snacks in minutes, this is the air fryer for you.
