State of Decay 3 was one of several first-party Microsoft titles to be shown off at the Xbox Games Showcase earlier this month, but though we did get our first proper in-engine look at the game, we didn’t get to see any actual gameplay, nor did Microsoft or developer Undead Labs announce a release date or window for the game.
Some details may have emerged on the latter nonetheless, however. In a recent episode of the Xbox Two podcast, journalist Jez Corden claimed that based on what he’s heard, Undead Labs and Microsoft are targeting a 2025 launch for State of Decay 3. Of course, given the fact that a 2025 launch window wasn’t announced for the game, one might imagine that that’s not something that the people working on the game aren’t completely confident about- though it does seem like that’s allegedly the internal plan right now.
Either way, 2025 is shaping up to be a solid year for Microsoft in terms of first-party releases nonetheless, with multiple major games already primed for release next year in the form of DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable, and South of Midnight. Recent reports have claimed that Gears of War: E-Day could also release in 2025.
